Where to get used tires/wheels
I have some really cool news to share, but first I need some help.
An unfortunate incident occurred 2 weeks ago- while backing out, I grazed a curb with my wife's tire. No big deal, except there was a rebar pole sticking out of it. A half inch hole is now in the sidewall. The tire is toast. The tire is a Michelin Energy MXV4 205/60 R16. It still had about 60% tread left. New from tirerack is $168. Shenanigans to that. How do I manage to get to a listing of junkyards in my area? Basically, I want to fix this for cheap. Once I get this solved, I can share with everyone the big news (NO, it is not a baby). |

You guys rock- looks like I will only be out closer to $40 instead of $140.
Now I guess I will have to get started on the big news thread :D |
Look for the date of build on the used tires.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11 In AZ a tire that is 4 or 5 years old may only have a few thousand miles on it (we have many seniors). If you plan to keep the car, an older tire may become dangerous for your wife John_AZ |
