Shoot them in the nutz with pink paint balls would get them Pinkos out of the trees:p
If they want to sit in trees,, string em up in nets like Planet of the Apes. |

LOL
Berkeley as a city really doesn't care about the protesters like they might have 40 years ago... but there are still enough local, tax-paying supporters that would flip a **** if police started spraying rubber bullets or paintballs or shaking the trees with almond harvesters to get the 'sitters down. Berkeley likes to work peacefully. Sometimes that's good, sometimes that's not. Berkeley is the antithesis of 1984, and I really like that fact. Human rights are highly respected. That includes the right to not be injured by fake bullets or forced to fall out of a tree because of a roving nut-harvesting machine. On the side of the University, the trees in that grove are maybe only 80 years old. They are nice oak trees. I like trees a lot, also. But the University is going to plant THREE trees for every one they cut down, and in 80 years, Berkeley still will be flush with trees. And I don't think the area is really a sacred Native American burial ground, because if it were, people other than dumpster-diving hippie kids from Marin county would care about it :p |
This spindle of a tree is all that is left in the oak grove these fools have been 'protecting' for 21 months. Yes, I said fools.
I wonder when they will come down? Party's over! http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/20...0499095244.jpg KT |

you people need to back off and quit bumping heads with these strong willed women. show some understanding and compassion. respect their devotion and committment to what they believe so strongly in that they lived in a tree for all that time. as a show of respect and understanding, I think the best thing to express this with is a small ceremony and lighting a special candle. a tree candle would be perfect. long lasting, quite visible in the dark night sky, and would warm everyone in the chilly damp air. I believe the one they are sitting in would be perfect. looks like it might burn for most of the night. they might be so touched by this show of support, i'm pretty sure they will be on the ground long before the candle burns out

Come on, where would we be w/o the comic relief provided by these bozos with their shaved nuts and hairy girlfriends? It's a small price to pay, waiting to cut down a few trees. :)
This thread is comedy gold. All made possible by the sacrifice of some tree-sitters. Credit where due. |
You think this thread is funny, you should read the comments from the news site it came off of. :D

Screaming tree hugger's. To much free time? God Help Us! I will burn some wood for them tonight. Old Growth by the way.
|
Amazes me how folks from CA can make fun of just about everyone else in the U.S. when they grow folks like this in their own back yard.

Didn't know they were friends of yours.

I hope they have a huge bonfire on the job site Monday.
Actually if I were smart, I'd buy up some chunks of that wood, have some earthy/crunchy carvings made out of them - you know, fashioned into "natural" jewelry or whatever. Then charge the tree-huggers a fortune for it to "buy a piece of the trees so you can keep their memory with you safe forever". Then laugh all the way to the bank. Bwahahaha! |

You missed the best part. These are not old trees that grew there naturally. The trees that they are trying to cut down and replace with a greater number of new trees were only planted there in the first place as part of the landscaping when they built the last stadium there! Total BS! |
Scuba Steve, WTH are we watching in that little video? A skydiver whose chute didn't open?
|
that's a tree hugger that comes from a long tradition of tree huggers. some people call them black bears but they prefer to be called bears of color. by the way.. Yogi jackson and Booboo Sharpton are demanding this video be taken off the internet. it's promotes the bigoted stereotype that black bears don't have the right genetic makeup for gymastics. the awkward trampoline routine and clumsy landing are not examples of a trained black bear gymnast. This video's only purpose is to continue the long time practice of denying equal opportunites for training and careers in gym sports for bears of color.

BTW, I feel the University has the right to remove the trees and build what they want. SmileWavy |
Do they come down once a day to take a dump?
|
Dave, they are oak trees :) http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_10395750
Chief of UCB Police sent a letter to the students saying they wanted to deal with the tree-sitters peacefully. 400 students wrote back in favor of removing the tree-sitters more forcefully than they had been doing. [courtesy The Economist a few months ago] widgeon13- One of these tree-sitters did this in a random tree on campus, out in the central plaza, last semester. He had buckets hanging for his excrement. Like the guys in oak grove, he flung his s*** at police officers before and while being arrested...as a number of students watched It's a bunch of nonsense, really |

I still think it'd work for those people that want to camp out in trees for whatever dumb reason. |
Trees will die anyway. The good thing is that they are a renewable resource given that they have adequate space to grow. I have no sympathy for the protesters. Having worked in the paper industry for 35 years and seen wacho's all over the world, get them out of the trees as soon as possible.
We handle them with kid gloves and they try to kill loggers by spiking trees and other stunts, then they run and hide in most cases. Cowards!! |
Tree-sitters came down peacefully today. University struck a "deal"
|
Should have just shot them down or dropped the tree with them in it;)

If a tree fell in the woods on top of a hippie and the hippie made a noise, would anyone give a s***?
|
Sorry, dudes, but this does not qualify as a "tense" police standoff where I come from. Sounds a lot like a commute on the BART, except the BART's usually smoke free. You'd get that in the line waiting for the next train.
During the tense standoff, angry protesters screamed at campus police, with one man blowing cigarette smoke into an officer's face. Another officer twice used his arm to push back a man. "Stand back!" the officer yelled. |
I wonder why these tree sitters and angry protesters weren't at work?
oh, that's right. they don't work. They live off the rest of us who work and then protest against us and the system that supports them. Useless people. Worse than useless. |

Did they use the metalstorm?
|
If a tree falls in the forest, does anybody hear? Yes. Chuck Norris hears it. Chuck Norris can hear everything.
|
dennis prager covered this on the radio the other day. he played audio of something that sounded like a woman weeping hysterically as a tree was cut down. he was speechless. someone called in to talk about a professor who compared logging to the holocaust in class.
we have gone from animal rights, to plant rights. rock rights are next. |
I would have happily set that tree on fire. Chainsaw takes too much effort and I'd liek to watch those losers suffer.
|
Metalstorm!
|
whatever....they believe what they believe. what gets me is them "going the extra distance". i am cautious, very cautious of any fanatic.

Re: The video.
Pffft! ...much rather watch T. Soprano weeping in his therapist's office, concerning his mommy and that rat, trigger-happy Uncle! |
