America Hating Liberals
Tue, 06/17/2008 - 13:01 — tabs The "last innocent" generation...When we was growin up we was all told by our teachers in school that America was the GREATEST that we represented everything good in the world and everybody loved America and Americans for it. That America was honest as the day was long...Then something happened that started to change our opinions. That was the death of JFK, we didn't quiet believe what our HONEST, NEVER TELL A LIE government told us about it.
We started to examine and question what we was told to us in school and found out a different truth about America that it had blemishes and warts and all. That we were not always on the side of right and always wore white hats . Some of us got so angry that we was lied to by our teachers and government that we never forgave those little white lies we were told. Some keep pointing out the flaws and get angry when our government can not live up to the ideals that we were told about by our teachers in school when we were young. Today them people are called America Hating Liberals.

You keep trying to fit everything/everyone into neat little boxes. It's a bit anal, don't you think?

I would say the disappointment Tabs describes did happen to me, but it was not a disappointment about America or Americans. it was an epiphany about humans. What I eventually figured out is that the barons of business and labor and government......were large, deep-voiced Fourth Graders. The games we played on the playground are the same games we play today. Stealing each others' lunches. Placing signs on each others' backs. Telling stories about each other. Making it look like it's the other guy's fault. Fibbing. Alerting the Playground Monitor. Making alliances. Breaking alliances. Same stuff, different venue.
There is only one alternative to understanding this about humans........not understanding it. And there is the difference. Those who understand this about human nature are called "liberal" who want to regulate. Those who do not.........favor deregulation.

The "we" is imy nclusion in the last "innocent" gen. It speaks from experience. The "little white lie" has been edited in later versions of this comment.

Tabs may be referring to simply growing up. I mean, as you mature you find out that the fairy tales are not true, Richard Nixon was a crook, we defoliated Vietnam cause we could, etc. However, there is a common thread in what we have today in the USA.
My particular view of the coming of age that came to my generation happened at Kent State, when Nixon's soldiers cut us down. Before that it was an acid mary jane revolution, with a few really getting upset about the whole Vietnam thing. Kent State really did it for me and many others, and it followed the whole hippie/yippie thing in Chicago in the summer of 68. Anyway, a few years later Kent State happened. There was a riot that went on for a while, and lots of minor damage occured. It happened after an invasion of Cambodia that a lot of us thought crossed a line. Anyway, the national guard shot 4 students to death. This was it. The end of the line. The total end of innocence. The real hard core liberals/radicals got id cards that day. The birth of the US left common movement. To this day, the same group exists, and it is mostly middle/upper middle class white/jewish. There is a reason for all this. I think this it one of them. There is no putting it back together for them, it will always be war with the establishment. This is deep stuff, that will only die with the real left. Can it be passed on? Maybe, but true hated is hard to keep going forever. Just my humble opinion of course. |

Let's take a look at Tabs' post:
1. "When we was groing up" -10 points. Total redneck-speak. Might I suggest "When I grew up". 2. "we was all told by our teachers in school that America was the GREATEST that we represented everything good in the world and everybody loved America and Americans for it" -10. 3. "That America was honest as the day was long...Then something happened that started to change our opinions. That was the death of JFK, we didn't quiet believe what our HONEST, NEVER TELL A LIE government told us about it." First of all, if you believe 100% what ANYONE tells you, including your mother...then you are stupid. The US government has ALWAYS lied to the citizens of this country...because it is run by POLITICIANS. It lied in the Warren report, it lied in 2003 just before dubya invaded Iraq, and it lied to us today. -20. Oh yeah: 2. You spelled "quite" as "quiet". A dictionary is available at any bookstore~ -I'm only going to reduce you by 10 points for that sentence, though there are multiple things wrong with it. First of all "we was told" doesn't exist in the English language. "We were told" is more correct. Second...we live in "America". So do the people in southern Chile. And the people in Argentina. And Brazil, Surinam, Mexico...have you found the pattern yet? "America" is the general name for North and South America...basically, the western hemisphere. You and me live in the United States of America. That America was honest as the day was long...Then something happened that started to change our opinions. That was the death of JFK, we didn't quiet believe what our HONEST, NEVER TELL A LIE government told us about it. 4. "We started to examine and question what we was told to us in school" Might I correct that: "What were were told in school" -10 -What the hell are you talking about? You're a conservative! Come on, what the hell are you thinking? You're supposed to tout the party line and not question authority EVER! Those teachers taught you those lessons. YOU will follow them young man....blindly! 5. Some of us got so angry that we was lied to by our teachers and government that we never forgave those little white lies we were told. Some keep pointing out the flaws and get angry when our government can not live up to the ideals that we were told about by our teachers in school when we were young. Today them people are called America Hating Liberals. The sad part about this: The vast majority of people with the same political views as you Tabs actually talk that way- N! PS: I case I'm not wrong, you receive a grade of "50" on this paper. Last edited by Normy; 06-19-2008 at 06:41 PM.. |
