I've been following it from the beginning. Great stuff!
|
Interesting. :) The thread is too long for me to read but I get the gist.
This domain apparently redirects to the original thread. :) www.ArizonaParkingSolutionsSucks.com |
For a good intro, go to page 51 (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3880087&page=51) and about half-way down you'll see a bunch of posts that rehash everything that's happened pretty well.
The RECAP takes about 2 pages, but it's pretty funny stuff. And no, I'll never get that hour back. :P |
is it a black audi wagon?
some people have a long memory and hold grudges |
crazy, in my city we cant park on the road overnight in the winter so they can plow the streets of snow. As it gets closer to the date when the rule takes effect the city will place warnings/ reminders to any car parked on the street overnight.
HOA's are good for what?? |
Ha Ha, awesome!
|
You can send the owner of the parking company (aka Boot Nazi) an e-mail: gerry@arizonaparking.com
Apparently they've been overwhelmed with e-mails from supporters of the booted Audi guy. |
Saw it on another forum! Go DollyMan Go!SmileWavy

Wow, I can't imagine the volume of crank e-mail that dude must be getting.
That Arizona Parking company sounds like they were totally out of control, and violated their own contract. They were supposed to give several warnings before booting a car, but they apparently dispensed with that inconvenience and went straight to booting cars and then wrongfully extorting $140 to remove it. Outrageous behavior. I'm really, really surprised an Arizona lawyer hasn't picked up on this and brought an Unfair Business Practices suit against Arizona Parking. Arizona must have a statute where one car owner can bring a suit on behalf of the general public. You could get into all of their records through discovery in the action, the company would be dead in the water and there could be possible grounds to go after the owner of Ariz Parking personally. I'd think what they were doing violated dozens of laws. Maybe it will still happen. That would truly be epic - the Internet used for good to take down a crooked company. |
Unbelieveable! Hope he gets them kicked out of the place!

arizona has a lot of that |
Looks like the thread got shut down.

The original thread has been locked, seemingly after lawyers contacted the forum.
A few people have now moved it to another forum set up just for this topic: http://www.parkingenforcementforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2 |
FYI, they've now set up a private thread for the owner of the Audi to post updates, so if you want to see a nice, clean thread of what's going on (no noise), check this out:
http://www.parkingenforcementforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3&start=0 The colour scheme is a little bit annoying, but it has the info. It seems that the parking enforcement guys now have lawyers involved, so it should be pretty funny to see where this all leads. |
Wasted a good hour of my morning reading through that.
Those guy at VW are a funny lot once the photchopping goes all out it will get really funny. They are exercising great restraint not going to town already. As I read through it was apparent Gerry is out of control and power tripping. The OP of that thread could have easily escalated this to a assault charge against Gerry if he was smart. I would have had someone manning a video camera at all times when this was taking place in the guys garage. It seems Arizona Parking Solutions is in violation of the contract and illegally booted this guys car, they should have let it go a long time ago and apologized (again Gerry will never do this) not it will turn into a circus for them and will only end in them looking really bad. Jerry is now in a no win situation and cannot even back out of it. |
Movie rights forthcoming, I'm sure. It could actually make a funny movie, if done right. Major satire. Think Ferris Beuller vs. school principal.

Why anyone would choose to live like that, in a tract housing schit-hole w/ HOA in ass-crack AZ. is beyond me.
If anyone thinks that the solution to bloated govt. agencies is to eliminate them completely and replace them with private contractors, this would be a window into the future they envision. Nightmare. I applaud his rebellion against the parking company, but boy does he make me glad I live in L.A. For all of the big city problems we have, there are no little pencil-neck private contractors handling city business like that, in fact one of the things I love here is that the LAPD and most other enforcement officers are too busy to be petty like that. They are not like suburban cops, staring-down every car w/ performance mods or fast-looking bike just itching to write it for something. They have more on their plate, or if they have a quiet 15 minutes they want to go to Starbucks or grab a bite or bathroom break. I happen to think that the LAPD and LASD do a fantastic job here, and I like the way they do it. (Their style). BTW, the Tempe PD in his story sound just fine, but that whole story got me fired-up on suburbia and pencil-neck enforcement of everything, like parking. I don't know what the term is for someone who is the opposite of a libertarian, someone who never saw a rule or law they didn't like. There are a lot of them these days, and I hate them. Lastly, that guy's writing style drove me crazy; how can there be so many people, seemingly of normal intelligence w/ a HS education, who cannot spell the difference between "loose" and "lose", "where" for "were", etc... Are schools that ******* bad now?? I wasn't exactly the valedictorian of my public HS, but I write and speak english. Jeezus... |

I have worked for big corporations and you would be surprised about how mid- and upper management write: talk about differences between 1. It's and its 2. principal and principle 3. their and they're and there I even sometimes compose or proofread emails and documentation; they then cut-and-paste and send it as their creation. I could go on. I do not pretend to be a great writer, but why (as an immigrant) do I need to do what I do. |

Some people are not lawyers, doctors, CEO's, financial investors, stock market guys. Some people work at McDonalds, Burger King, or Best Buy and do not have throw-away money. Some people have not gone to college and have formal educations. Like me, Some gotta do the best they can with what they got. It might not be about choice, but necessity. Exactly why my wife and I live in a 950fqft townhouse and a single car garage. |
The kid starts off this thread with explaining that he really did not WANT to live in this place but it was his only affordable option.
|
A Mod locked the thread over there, I guess no more updates.

It's been moved to here: http://www.parkingenforcementforum.com/viewforum.php?f=3

I still don't know how someone can live in Phoenix in a tract housing complex w/ a HOA. I'd rather be homeless in L.A. and sleep in my car by the beach. (As I was and did many years ago). To each their own, YMMV, etc... |

FWIW, I've always hated tract housing as well, although some of those tract-houses are pretty freakin' nice. If you ask me, it isn't much different that living in an actual apartment. Probably better, actually. But HOA? No thanks... And Phoenix heat? NO THANKS! |

Cliff notes? Did he take the boot off himself or something?

I remember when this first hit the web. Pretty entertaining.
Essentially, the HOA subcontracted out the parking to a 3rd party who ran the parking like they were under Hitler's rule, and IIRC, they were doing some shady stuff too. The guy's car got booted, so he jacked it up, put it on 4 dollies, and rolled the car, complete with boot into his garage. The cops were called, but couldn't do anything (and seemed to somewhat be siding with the guy). WHen I finally stopped watching/reading, it wasn't quite over, but it looked good for the guy whose car got booted. |
I just read the cliff-notes. Apparently he got steam rolled a bit the first time he went to court (he didn't get a lawyer, but they did have one.
But eventually, everything was denied by the court and the guy didn't have to pay. Also, the parking for the complex has been restructured to add more guest parking and make parking better. |
Hate to tell you this, but this is common-place on college campuses.
We had several friends cars ransomed (they actually tow them away to a holding lot) by Joe's Towing while in college. They aren't supposed to tow unless there is a complaint about a non-stickered care in a lot, but everyone knows they cruise all of the apartment lots at 4:00 a.m. on weekends and just tow any non-stickered cars. |
After the original frivolity the court imposed a gag order.

that is pretty much unreadable. seriously bad.

I half-heartedly tried to find out how he removed the boot without damaging it. Alot to sift through. Still wondering,
|
Bob,
A cutting wheel on an angle grinder works wonders on most anything like that. What people forget is that you can usually take the wheel off and make it a lot easier to get to. |
Quote:
The whole flap was that he did not remove the boot, damaging it would have landed him in hot water. He simply eliminated their ability to tow the car (removing any leverage they would have to force him to pay) by putting it in his garage then told them if they wanted their boots they could come take them but he was not giving them a penny. Stalemate. |
That's how this ended? What did the scumbags at the HOA do eventually? They're still using the same contractor?
If you think that company is crooked, i would LOVE to introduce the lot of you to... http://www.philapark.org/images/Phil..._authority.gif The all time kings of scum. |
