Finally, straight talk from a Republican
I'm not here to say that the government is always right, but when the government tells you to do something, I'm sure you would all agree that I think you all recognize that is something you need to do."
--Republican Senator Kitt Bond from Missouri in regard to telecom companies doing the government's illegal bidding spying on Americans. Wonder where he buys his jackboots? Finally ending the Republican hypocrisy of "small government by the people," Bond shows the true totalitarian colors the Republican Party has been not-so-subtly hiding for the last several years. Come on out of the closet boys, coast is clear, the Democrats caved and capitulated voting to give telecoms immunity. Every single yes vote should get a one-way ticket to Putin's "Fück the Framers" Pool Party or a bullet IMHO.

I think not. The telecoms did the patriotic thing, they responded to an emergency, a threat bigger than Pearl Harbor, at the request of the president of the United States of America.
To prosecute them for their help is totally un-american, un-patriotic, traitorous. Just like energy, can't drill now because it makes no difference now, but what about 10 years from now? If you never start you never get there. Republicans have done more to to fight communism than the democrats ever dreamed of. In fact the current democratic party is exactly like the Communist party, no difference. Obama is a communist. Putin must love Obama. Last edited by snowman; 06-20-2008 at 08:56 PM.. |

Sammy, why do you hate the Framers and The Constitution so much? Why do you favor totalitarian-based governments vs. the republic?

The Stalin artwork is hanging right next to the Castro, Mao, Che and Marx artwork - in your living room.

At your yard sale.
Hey, it's not a stretch at all to go from that senator's qoute to murdering 50 million of your own citizens. Kitt Bond should just go ahead and grow him one of those Hitler mustaches.

And would have remained so, with a Republican majority in both houses, except for a majority of Americans voting to give the Democrats a chance to slow down the insanity. BTW, the Supreme Court is decidedly conservative. |

Che and Obama, I can see the connection.
Bush and Stalin, same deal. The Kitt Bond statement isn't a message of Communism, but rather Totalitarianism, an ideal that the Republican Party embraces.

Shaun, are you oblivious to the context of Senator Bond's quote? He was saying that these private companies shouldn't be sued for fulfilling an order from the government. You don't agree with that?

IT IS EVERY CITIZEN'S HIGHEST MOST PATRIOTIC DUTY TO GUARD AGAINST GOVERNMENT TELLING YOU TO BREAK THE LAW AND VIOLATE THE CONSTITUTION. and these corporations have huge legal departments. they knew what they were doing, were told to do, was against the law, they knew they were violating the Constitution by doing the government's bidding. Do you not understand that? This is exactly what bothers me about Republicans. You take a "Walmart Sale" approach to Freedom, to the Constitution. You always take the easy, cheap way out, consequences be damned.
