Looks like a true Continental Cup this year...

Spain came with their A team and played like they were already in the final game, while Russia played like a couple of teenagers messing around with a soccer ball and a wet field down the street.

It was on ABC last weekend, and on ESPN for the past 2 weeks...they even moved the game times for better viewing in the US.

Yet not a single person has said to me, "Yo man, did you see the soccer game?" This time of year, it's all baseball talk in Philly.

Not one mention of this on the local sports talk stations.

The crushing came from the fact that Spain had 19 shots, Russia had 6. Of those, 10 Spanish shots were "on goal", meaning close, while Russia had ZERO on goal shots.

I'm in Barcelona, Spain at this moment. It's crazy wild here. Every restaurant/bar is packed. It's midnight with no hope for sleep. The hippies here couldn't give a damn, but no one gives a damn about the hippies. The car horns are honking, and the firecrackers are rattling our hotel window.

Just came back from a business trip to Seville (really hot down there). Missed the whole 1st half but managed to watch most of the 2nd half where we really played a great game. The players commented after the match that they have really enjoyed themselves during the game, just like it was when they were playing for the under-17 team.

Now the spirtits are very high and we are ready to beat ze Germans next sunday.

From my rude Los Angeles Spanish-speaking skills while watching the futbol channel, what I understood is Spain has intelligence and passing skills, while Germany just has brute force. In short, the Spanish will pick the Germans apart like a cooked chicken. Everyone in Barcelona said the Russians didn't stand a chance tonight. The Germans won't fair much better. Too bad I won't be here next Sunday.
