Why does hotmail's junk mail filter suck so bad?
I use a few different e-mail accounts on a daily basis. My work one (which is a private domain run off its own server) for work stuff, gmail for personal stuff with people I know (family/friends), yahoo for "other" general stuff and correspondences with acquaintances and hotmail for the "annoying" stuff (like when you have to give an e-mail address to sign up for a BBS or an online shopping account or whatever - the stuff you're likely to get a billion automated responses to and little else of value).
Anyway, I realize that part of my problem might be that I'm using the hotmail account for the "crap" e-mails and the ones that typically might be most often linked to bots/spyware/whatever. However I've noticed that the gmail junk filter and the yahoo junk filter are exceptional. I hardly EVER get spam through to my inbox with either of those apps (maybe once every 3-4 months, if that). With hotmail it's every single day - I'll get at least one or two make it to the inbox and a bunch of others (correctly) in the "junk" folder that I don't bother to read.
I've fiddled with the control settings (they're pretty limited) but anyone else notice this? Anything else I should try? It's not urgent, just one of those little annoyances in life I'd like to "iron out" if possible.
