Last Night: Jazz à Vienne
As part of our launch of a new Focal speaker series - Utopia EM (shameless plug here) - we were treated to an evening concert at Jazz à Vienne, which is held every year in Vienne, France. See http://www.jazzavienne.com/ This is a major jazz event.
We saw Avishai Cohen (stunning) & Diana Krall (just OK). If you ever have the chance to go, it is a great event with the headlining concert held in a 2000 year old Roman amphitheater. Très cool. ![]() ![]() ![]() Avishai Cohen (on bass) ![]() Diana is the phosphorescent blob. Ian

American art form? No. Although America was the origin of jazz & has always been its major driving force, you can't discount the importance of Europe's appreciation & innovation.

Good to hear. # 2 at Focal is a HUGE jazz fan. He has been a judge of new talent for several years. One of their design team goes EVERY day that the festival is on. Yes, you could say it's appreciated. That theater holds 8000 people & it's packed every night. The whole town was in party mode.

Oh . . . and if you like modern jazz, check out Avishai Cohen. He doesn't play his bass, he attacks it.
