And who can go to a golf course or a driving range without reciting a few lines?

"Be the ball"

Watched Caddyshack and Blazing Saddles today, 2 of my favorites. Great quotes from both.

I've watched it so many times, I started looking for bloopers, poor editing and such; the movie is full of them!
Look in this clip starting at 4:55, after Cervik hits the floating platform with "Seafood". You'll notice a girl in red clothes that "fakes" her way down the floor then jumps in the lake. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/RcD0C-gNKVE&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/RcD0C-gNKVE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> |
Carl Spackler: He's on his final hole. He's about 455 yards away, he's gonna hit about a 2 iron I think.
Carl Spackler: IT'S IN THE HOLE. Carl Spackler: Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole! Carl Spackler: License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote. Carl Spackler: This is a hybrid. This is a cross, ah, of Bluegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, Featherbed Bent, and Northern California Sensemilia. The amazing stuff about this is, that you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the bejeezus-belt that night on this stuff. Carl Spackler: So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. Carl Spackler: Oh Mrs. Crane, you're a little monkey woman. Yeah, you're lean, mean, and I bet you're not too far in between are ya. How'd you like to wrap your spikes around my... Lacey Underall: Who's you decorator? Bennihana? Ty Webb: No, I brought most of that stuff back with me from Vietnam. Lacey Underall: You were in the war? Ty Webb: [limping and patting his butt] No... Homo. Ty Webb: Let me just clean this up here [lift up bow and arrow] Ty Webb: getting ready for the season. Lacey Underall: Duck? Ty Webb: No... dolphin. Ty Webb: I was born to love you / I was born to lick your face / I was born to rub you / but you were born to rub me first /... What do you say we take this out on the patio? |

"Hey! You scratched my anchor!"

How 'bout a Fresca??
|
At least twenty-thirty times. One of my absolute favorites. No other movie has as many classic lines that stuck in my head.
|
Look at my avatar...I am at the country club working 6 days a week and not a day goes by without using a few caddyshack lines. My favorite line to use on the course is after some other caddy in makes a mistake, I will jump in with "Poor Caddying"

It was filmed at the former Rolling Hills golf course in Davie just west of Ft. Lauderdale. It's on University Drive south of I-595. I used to live a mile from it.
