I know you are the resident car audiophile on the board. I decided to replace the rear speakers in my DD. I got the speaker wire and the speaker out just fine, but for the life of me can't get the darn speaker wire clip unconnected from the speaker.

And if anyone else has any idea's please throw them my way. I know ths should be 1st grade level stuff here, but I am very mechanically inclined. I have never, ever messed with electronics. The closest I have been to anything like this was an alternator clip and a brake senor. Both times I snapped them right off....:confused:

Pry the gray prong outward while pulling the entire gray clip away. Sometimes they take more effort than you think. I like to use a blade screwdriver to pry/twist.

Yea, I was using a pretty small, yet long with enough leverage to pry it away. So I thought. Everytime I would pry on it, I kept getting this feeling that it was just about to snap.

You don't need to pry it away but a little bit, then you pull the connector away from the speaker.

But even then, so what if you break it, your new speakers likely use a different style connector anyway, just cut em.

Cut them and just tape put electric tape over it? Hmmm sounds like the easy way out. I like it daddy.

Electric tape? Odds are your new speakers use male spade connectors. Solder the proper female spade connectors on the wires or use crimp style ones, but please no electric tape:D

Yep, the above advice is good. i just cut the wire and solder or use quality crimp connectors, if you cut the wire leave an inch or so on the plug side to put the stocks back in if you sell the dd.

Got the speaker off just now. I'll need to figure out what ohms the speakers run at to buy the correct speaker for it. Thank goodness my dad has quite the set of tools.

4ohms.

most every single aftermarket speaker will be 4 ohms.
is that a taurus or contour?
