Good Deed Done Sat / Fellow Porsche Driver

This past Sat I'm going down to the local strip mall for adult beverages, food stuff, etc for a party we're throwing. As I come into the rear entrance of the mall there is a 4-way stop intersection, I see a black C-2 approaching from the opposite way. I'm on the cell to my Fiance' and (as we're talking) I tell her that I spotted P-car which is very, very rare in my part of the woods.

The car turns and I follow, he is going in the same direction toward the liquor store. The car is a RS America and pretty nice. After following a few yards I immediately smell very strong odor of raw fuel and I notice that something is leaking from the rear of his car. I start to pass and wave him over and tell him that fuel is leaking from the car and to shut it off.

I introduce myself and tell him that I'm a technician. He pops the rear lid and sure enough the fuel pressure line where it attaches to the intake fitting is dripping at a pretty good rate. So I offer to run back to my crib and get some tools which I do (after buying the adult bevs) I come back, tools in hand, fender cover and gloves. I tighten the fitting and all is good. +

I tell him that that fuel and oil leaks are common issues that left unattended will turn the back end of that thing into a barbecue. I send him on his way and he was very grateful.........even gave me a ride down the street and back !!

Well done! Nothing like "paying it forward" to help with car Karma. Sooner or later, we all need someone's help. Hope when it's my turn that there's someone like you around.

great job!

did you also mention that given such maintenance issues he should immediately sell the car to, oh i don't know, me! i'll be a good guy and give him $15k and get the fuel system fixed on my own dime!

i know, i know the kindness is never ending.

Way to go - the world needs more people doing things like that! I just wish you were around that one morning a few years ago when the same thing happened to me! I had the fuel line on the left carb pop off and spill fuel everywhere. A woman was waving at me yelling I was leaking gas, though by that point the odour had already told me that. Luckily I was right in front of a hardware store and could patch it in the parking lot. I bought a new fire extinguisher that day...

Warrenton's not that bad!
Good story. I'm seeing a lot more older 911s out here than when I moved here 4 years ago.
