Starbucks just personifies many of the things in today's society that really, really, really piss me off.

You're aggression is wrongly placed. Starbucks is not what is wrong with the world, it's Starbucks CUSTOMERS that are what is wrong with the world. They're weak willed individuals anyways, letting some highly caffeinated coffee drive their lives.

I personally don't like Starbucks the company because they make an effort to drive locally owned businesses out and take their market share. Yes, that is pure capitalism, which i should like, but I guess I'm a bleeding heart in that i still would rather support my locally owned and run Ma and Pa businesses.

I always associate Starbucks with yuppies. I ain't a yuppie so I'm not interested in hanging out there. And, anyway, as far as coffee goes, I can take it or leave it.

Yes, I am weak willed. When I'm jonesing for a good coffee, am nowhere near home and don't feel like experimenting, I lose all self-control and go to Starbuck's. Someday I hope to have more friends like yourself who can help me help myself.

I believe that the proliferation and popularity of Starbucks Coffee Shops created a need, which opened opportunities for small businesses and individual entrepreneurs. I believe that the existence of Starbucks added more businesses to the economy than it subtracted.

Starbuck's, McDonald's, Chili's, Applebee's, they have stated that they will grow by expanding internationally. I fail to see how this is a good long term plan, but you know, they ain't stooopid.

And, what's wrong with Ricardo Montalban? Should have maybe put RR in that crowd of endorsed conservative brand names.

I've heard that StarBucks is a good employer that was very generous to its workers with healthcare packages. They may be closing stores, but the amount of money they have made over the past 10 years is staggering. It's like a popular nightclub, sometimes you have to ride the popularity while you can, make your money, and start bailing when the tide changes.

Isn't that a symptom of Wall Street's obsession with quarterly profits?

There ain't no gas stations around you? They all have coffee, and most of them now carry some kinda "gourmet" versions too. Same with the fast food joints.

You only want Starbucks because it's 2.5 times the caffeine, and you're body is addicted.

Yes, there's a Chevron next to the Starbuck's I sometimes go to. I'm pretty sure I know the difference between the coffee both serve and I'm happy to pay for the better stuff.

So...you do search out the local coffee shops, where they properly roast the beans, maintain water temperatures, are careful about grind size, and respect their customers wishes?

OK, I'm sorry, I guess it seems I'm attacking you, but I'm not. I just can't understand how someone can actually say that Starbuck's coffee is good. It's not good, in almost every sense of the chemistry and gastronomy of coffee.

I did not, however, accuse you of being a hippy. I don't think any hippies could afford Starbucks

I just moved here in March and I'm not into exploring the finer coffee shops of Phoenix when the avg. daily temp. is 109 deg. When I come across the good European stuff I used to get when I lived there, I buy it. When I'm in a hurry and need a fix, there's almost always a Starbuck's nearby. I hate gas station, 7-11 and McDonald's coffee. Sure, some restaurants do it right, but most don't and I don't go to a restaurant for a cup of to-go coffee. I like Starbuck's just fine. FWIW, when I lived in VA we had a Wegman's next to our house. Their coffee was the best grocery store coffee I've ever had. But there are none out here. And the two grocery stores I go to here both have Starbuck's inside them.

Problem solved. Move to Tucson, I can give you the addresses and directions to a dozen good, locally owned coffee shops...and it's significantly cooler than in East L.A. (sorry, I mean, Phoenix )

He has been taking dipso's psychic power pills.

Personally, I never cared for starbucks coffee, always tastes burned to me. At home, I will make my coffee strong enought to take the enamel off the cup, so it is not too strong. Even take a thermos of home made to the Euro Sunday deals, and they have a starbucks right there.
