Site for HDTV repair data?

Samsung LN-S4095D

It started to not receive sound on broadcast channel 30. I figured I would auto program it to see if it found the channel better. When you try to auto program the TV it hangs at channel 30 and will not respond to any command including the power button.

It seems like a software problem. At work I would reload the Flash and see if that took care of the FPGA. Is there a way I can reload the software on a TV? I notice there is a usb service port on the back.

Anyway a Google search revealed very little (as in NO) repair data schematics, manuals etc.

Look for support forums on Yahoo or likewise.

When my brand new Sony Bravia died after 2 months, I was somewhat successful in looking at the issue. A few scattered threads from different sites were helpful.

So far I do not know of a forum (site) where these are discussed. And for me, no more Sony Bravias.

Rick,

How old is the TV? Did you charge the purchase? Many credit cards double the factory warranty for free, so worth checking into that.

Has anyone looked inside these things? Do they have a processor like a TMS320 in them?

It is year and a half old and the warranty is one year. I charged it on Master Card and I don't remember any promo like that.

Yeah! I opened mine up looking for the IC that was mentioned in varoius threads. I did not find a processor in mine; though, I was not looking for it as I was looking for a specific IC. After many hours, I gave up.

I attempted to get it fixed but places just want to replace the whole circuit board (parts and labor between $500 and 600). Heck, for a few bucks more, I could just buy a brand new unit, especially now that prices have come down.
