Guitar guys- help

Ive a friend in the US that has a 78 LP Custom he needs to unload. One of those horrid bursts. He doesnt know ****e from clay about guitars and was going to pawn it. Can anyone recommend a reputable dealer who might buy it or sell it on consignment? I reckon its worth +3k, he is in PA. Suggestions gratefully passed on.

Stuart

I have known Rick for years, very honest guy. He only runs a buisness because he loves guitars. He will help your friend out, he goes to guitar shows all around on a regular basis and has vast experiance with the prices in the vintage guitar market.

elderly.com, Lansing MI. I have bought and sold guitars and banjos with them for many years. You can fill out a form online and they will email you with an estimated value, or you can call them.

Newtown in Bucks Co.? Philly stores are probably best if he wants to just unload it that way. I'd send him to Medley in Bryn Mawr or Zap's in Olney. There's also a good Sam Ash and George's near Wayne, PA. I don't know of any dedicated vintage shops in that area. Probably the best vintage dealer on the east coast is Southworth Guitars in Bethesda, MD. They buy and sell all over the world and their store is just a museum of eye candy.

There is a great and honest vintage shop here in upstate NY that might work out ok for him

http://www.bernunzio.com/index.php

The owner does a lot of buying and selling from great distances and is fair and i believe does consignment

Personally, if i were him i would do a little research using the serial # to get a manufacture date, get values by researching and then throw it on ebay or on the local craigs list

This place is pretty good too. But they generally only take on the collectable stuff:
