Gee...THANKS, Iranian Government...

Well, it looks like the Iranian government is doing a good job of terrorizing the U.S...at the pumps, that is. And just when things were looking better this week...

What have I said? Every time crude prices start to drop, Iran starts rattling its sabers...

Who cares about their "sabre"? Gas prices will be high regardless. Didnt go down despite the "When we attack Iraq and take out Hussein, gas will be cheap." people

Same with this. As long as we are buying the **** from over there it will be expensive now. It isnt the crazy dictators, its the speculators and the foreign producers.

Deregulation of the futures market back in 2000 by the bush administration and republicans is hurting us all today.

Don't forget this fact when you vote.

As it drops we should tax the snot out of it to keep the end price high and limit consumption, which will further depress prices and let us tax it even more. We either keep the money in the USA in taxes - or we keep shipping it overseas to these people..

When the stuff was $20 a barrel it should have been taxed to kill the McMansion and SUV booms in their cribs.

Is there anything else you (in your infinite) wisdom have determined we need less of?

That Bush Administration never ceases to amaze me. Now we learn that they were deregulating the futures market while Clinton was still president.

Hey, i'm just sayin'...

you think gas prices are bad now? just wait till their oil is off the market.
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080711/oil_prices.html
"The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries warned Thursday it cannot replace the shortfall if Iran is attacked and takes its crude supplies off the market."

we are suffering cause the dollar sucks too.
"Meanwhile, the dollar weakened against other major currencies Friday. Because oil is bought and sold in dollars, oil's rise has not been as severe for countries with stronger currencies; meanwhile, traders have been using commodities as a hedge against the tumbling dollar."

market isnt helping much today

The front page of the LA times yesterday showed a world map with the price of gas in $. Except for Iran, China, and Venezuela, which subsidize heavily, the world average price was well over $5/gallon. If we drill more domestically, and I'm not saying we shouldn't, I don't see how it will lower the price much. Think of it this way, if you bake and sell cookies and you sell all you make at $1 each and then raise your price to $5 each over time and you still sell all you bake, why would you drop your price to $3 each? Granted you don't have to buy my cookies, and can do without, but you don't have much choice on gas.

You are absolutely correct, drilling for more oil just puts off the inevitable, which is confronting the need to find alternative energy sources. We are also limited by refining capacity and the greenies won't allow for additional capacity so forget about that.

Well, just this week, I saw prices drop in my neighborhood. Granted, it was a few cents per gallon, but when one is filling up an average-sized vehicle from empty, that can be significant. The financial news reported the drop was due to one main action - Americans decreasing their driving, particularly on the 4th of July weekend.

I doubt we'll ever see below $4 a gallon again in our lifetimes, so we just have to get used to the increase. The true fact is if this country wants to control oil prices, it can do so by driving less. I've actually begun to wonder if we haven't been underpaying at the pump up until now.

Increase drilling and refining should only insure we have our own supply and not rely on foreign countries. Not a decrease in price.

That may change. Greenies seem to have already lost political clout due to the majority of the country's sufferings, and Obama, if he wins, will have to allow some form of drilling/refining if he wants to have a second term.
