Waterproof Camera Housing?

Does anyone know where I would be able to find a housing to put my digital camera in to make it waterproof. I am not wanting to take pictures underwater just take the camera on a float trip and I know it will get soaked.

For this they make simple "ziplock" like bags. Any of the major camera stores (J&R, etc.) should carry them, you might also try REI.

May be overkill for a float trip, but not for a hot tub.

I whitewater kayak so I see lots of guys with cameras that need to be able to take a swim and must be 100% waterproof.

For casual use you could try this http://www.rei.com/product/752136 They seem decent but I wouldnt rely on it 100% as I have heard some complaints about leaks. You could also go with a pelican box http://www.rei.com/product/723937 if you are sure you will be using the camera on dry land but need to transport it over water. (this is what most kayakers do as they typically have SLR types of cameras with lenses.) I would trust this option 100% and would be the best bet if you have expensive equipment and want to protect it from both water and bumps.

For myself I have a Canon enclosure for my sd550 that can be used for diving. http://www.amazon.com/Canon-WP-DC80-Waterproof-PowerShot-SD550/dp/B000B674C0

+1.

If one bag doesn't give enough confidence, use two or more.

Odds of a leak getting to the camera go down significantly with each bag!

OTOH, if it's an expensive camera, I think one of those pelican boxes sound reasonable.

One of those would work but I would like to be able to take pics while it is in said container. May just break down and live with a waterproof disposable.

I've used a Pelican case for my electronics. Went snorkling in Hawaii, and didn't want to leave my valuables (cell/wallet/keys/camera) unattended on the beach. So I threw them into a Pelican case and tied a cord/leash to it. Floats and not a drop of water. Bought it at REI, I think.

I bought the Olympus Stylus waterproof digital last year, love it. No more fears around the pool, and waterparks with the kids.

Tried the ziploc bag trick jetskiing with my cell phone a few years ago. It cost me a new phone.

Which Stylus did you buy? How good of pictures does it take? Does it take good underwater pics?
