broken playstation 2
 

soo my sis's PS2 slim has a problem.
it starts up normaly but doesn't show that thier is a disk in it...
i've norrowed it down to the the laser motor isn't moving the laser up and down it's track. i checked the ribons and they are connected....
that's about how far i got....

anyone experience the same thing?

cd drives can die.

I sell a couple of used ones every month. They aren't worth fixing anymore. If cleaning the lens doesn't work I sell them for scrap.

The readers in the drives have a habit of crapping out on those things. Sounds like it may be time for a new drive.
