Basic laptop with XP for under $600?
Seems laptops with XP are a thing of the past? Can anyone recommend a basic but solid laptop that comes with XP installed for under $600? Dell charges an extra $99 if you want XP - that's just plain painful!

I purchased a refurbished IBM Thinkpad T42 (from IBM) with XP a few months ago for under $600, no problems and I'm happy.

Dell stopped XP on small office systems June 18th....

Buy a new Dell with Vista on it then get a XP restore CD off of Ebay or one of us and put it back the way it should be. Its very easy...

My computer guy specializes in this. He can ship anywhere and he is extremely reasonable. He just built me a new Thinkpad T60 with XP for $1,000, and he has a dozen refurbished units that are almost as good for your price range. He is an authorized Microsoft vendor, so he can sell and service XP for another 5 years. Only the big box retailers and manufacturers like Dell and Best Buy discontinued XP completely. Here's his web site: http://www.striketwice.com/about.html
