The worst thing in the world for Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be for Obama to be elected President.
It would show that a black man can achieve success and power without ridiculous grandstanding, without foul language and gutter talk, without blatantly waving the race card, without confrontational blacklisting tactics.
It would also take away Jackson and Sharpton's pretense of leadership among black Americans, and take away their easy target in the white power structure.
No wonder they feel deeply threatened by an Obama candidacy.
I'll be quite happy when both of them become irrelevant. I'm not saying they haven't made contributions in the past (although I am hard-pressed to remember exactly what Sharpton has contributed) but they seem like obsolete dinosaurs now.
