Does herpes mean herpes in the Ukraine?
So I see this girl I haven't run into in awhile. Gorgeous girl, came over from the Ukraine about a year ago. Speaks decent broken english.
So I'm asking how she has been and she replies that she had been laid up for about a week with an infection in her lip. Pretty bad I'm guessing. Anyway, of course I follow up with so did the docs figure out what the problem was. She replies "Herpes". I paused, smiled, and changed the subject. In the back of my mind thinking, damn and I was looking forward to hitting that. She said it with a straight face like it was the flu or sniffles. No shame at all. Then I started rationalizing, what if herpes means something completely different in the Ukraine. I doubt it, but its a shot. |

there's tiny cold sore herpes, at least a third of the adults in this country have it. then there's big ass gaping open sore herpes.
should probably figure out which.

One variant fo Herpes virus causes cold sores. Another variant causes "down there" sores. One wouldn't stop me from hitting it, one would.
Then again, I don't think the one I wouldn't mind would lay someone up for a week either.

Do some research. "Herpes" is a catch-all term. Generally HSV-1 is oral and HSV-2 is genital, but they can cross infect. A large percentage of the population has or has been exposed to HSV-1 - incredibly common.
Don't "hit" one thinking you're ok - someone with oral herpes (HSV-1) can transmit that and you can get a genital case of HSV-1. |

Or...just hit it, get the herps yourself, and then never have to think twice about hitting any of the other hot girls walking around with it.
Herpes is gonna be like chicken pox soon, you're force your kids to get it so you don't have to think about it again.

Apparently about 90% of the population has HSV-1 by the time that they are 45. However, only 1/3 of the people infected ever show the symptoms of a rare sore on the mouth.
If she has HSV-2, I would definitely stay away.

Yeah, I knew all the info on US defined herps. Been through that scare in college.
 Didn't know if the east block folks used it as a slang term. I mean, who the hell would flat out tell someone they had the real deal herps in the middle of a cigar bar? |

Do you like the girl? If yes, then what is the fuss? If you have had more than 8-10 sexual partners in your life then you have been exposed to HSV yourself and may not know it.
If she is "a keeper" then she is a keeper, period. If you are just trying to get laid then wear a raincoat and have fun.
