I'm another oddball that has never used drugs recreationally. Never saw the point, and don't like it when my head isn't working clearly.

Several years ago I shattered my femur quite badly. In the hospital, I must have been pretty doped up- It's the only time in my life that Pink Floyd music made sense.:D

What does "sense" have to do with it when a cute 25 year old vixen walks up to you and says "want to do a couple of line's then hop in the hot tub?" :)

True story, as I know it, of how even the smallest taste of drugs can alter your life or at least your career....

I have two nephews that grew up in the Seattle area. Both are the best kids you'd ever hope to meet. Both went to college, the youngest had aspirations in law enforcement or park ranger. He went on to get his masters in criminal studies. When he applied for a position with state patrol, FBI,and parks dept, there was one question relating to drug use. He admitted, perhaps stupidly, that he had smoked marijuana one single time while in college.

The agencies stated that because he had partaken of drug use after knowing his career direction, they all refused him the position. He would have made a fine lawman and it was truly very sad for all of us that know him as a person.

Today he chief mechanic on tug boats that pull barges containing millions of gallons of gasoline up and down the west coast. He loves the job and makes great money, but it was not the career he had longed for since he was a kid.

So what's the moral here?

The kid should have lied?

He lives in a hypocritical society where the business world can drink itself into oblivion each day, but one toke of pot can cost you your career?

The kid is better off where he is.

the moral, if there is one, is the first sentence

the kid would never lie and considered his single error in judgment as incidental

I agree that had he only had a DUI, he likely would have been hired

he may be better off for those of us who want him to grow old, but I think he would still trade professions if given the chance.

what does the straight guy do who has just bedded the hottest chick he's ever had a hard on over when she takes out some snow and sprinkles it on her clit as his tongue is set to lick?

huh

Is that a trick question?

Don't want to be a whiner but this thread is not about if you should do drugs but what to say if you already have.

I'm not condoning or condemning drug use, I was a drug user and would discourage anyone from trying them.

just sayin.

If he applied for KCPD (King County Police Dept.) they probably kicked him out for not doing enough drugs.

When I was younger some of those officers used to smoke up and take off of some I knew.

I know of one guy who got busted years ago in Skagit county who swore 1/3 of his stash "disappeared"-

it was the biggest Pot bust in Skagit Co. History.

Have to agree with those who say it's nobody's business. I went to college in the 60's after getting out of the service. During those times it was pretty much the norm. I did it with my friends but only when I had extra down time. They would usually complain I never got loaded with them, but I had other things to do in life & never really felt drawn to it.
I smoked some dope with my best friend who was a cop at the time and was curious about it. He mentioned it to his wife later on. Then a few years later he applied for the Secret Service, and he & his wife weren't on the best of terms with a life leading to divorce. So he called me up saying they were going to do a background check on him & might ask me (to my knowledge) if he had ever done anything like that. He was also worried about his soon to be X wife. Nobody said anything, but he could have paid a heavy price for smoking dope a couple of times out of curiosity.

best is never to admit to anything to strangers, shrinks, or doctors,

especially where the best bang is located.

***** I rarely ever take a aspirin! I never saw the need to try drugs or smoking. I rarely drink either. I take pride in that but I wouldn't look down on those that have tried them (illegal drugs) either. I do drink some don't get me wrong, but I would rather spend the money on one of my many hobbies before I bring home a case of beer. About the worse thing I do to myself is drink soda which I switched to diet sodas recently. Not sure if they are any better but less calories = less fat on me. :)

46 and drug-free (except for prescription pain killers after MVAs.). Hopefully, my children would do the same thing.

As stated before, "Don't ask, don't tell."
