So what you are saying is you are surfing the net on the company's time? Or just on your lunch break?

You shouldn't be surfing Pelican (or the web for that matter) while at work. What is your bosses number?

A local "shock jock" Tom Leykis talks about a women who disliked him so much that she generated hundreds of e-mails to him criticizing his radio show. Tom realized this woman was sending the mail from a corprate e-mail account. He documented these messages and forwarded them to the human resources dept. where this woman worked. According to him the woman was fired shortly after.

Think of your sales numbers if you didn't waste time surfing the web!

Just be glad you don't work for me...I fired a girl for texting too much.

If you can get fired for having words/pics on your screen you either need to stay off the internet or aspire to management where it doesn't matter.

Sorry, but I got tired of Leykis pretty quickly. You could record ten minutes, then play it back in a continuous loop, and have the same thing.

different kind of business.. Guess I can't roll with you big shots
and to answer the question..sales will be what they are...cause when you are out of stock..you are out of stock..lots of logistical problems with overseas goods in the past 6 months...suppliers are not filling like they should and it is rippling through the industry.

well i would not normally worry save the fact that LATELY people here are a bit wild...I only check out like 3 sites during the day and 2 are news (cnn and drudge) Pelican is one of the few that are ok with the filters...but it won't be if people keep doing what i was talking about. And YES...when you work for a BIG company..seeing the word N****R on a machine is absolutely no questions dismissal...anyplace. It is not acceptable language..
they don't mind us surfing as long as we work..but i would like to keep my job..so when i open a page on pelican and the top thread has a title to the effect of "N****R is a term of endearment" it is not like the normal pages i read..and that is why i am complaining..cause if i was frequenting a racist site..i would expect that..i DON"T expect that here. that is all i am trying to say...

I had a friend who used to work for Circuit City back in the days when the guys on the floor were all 100% commission. He was unquestionably the top salesman at the store. Occasionally, he would come in a little late from lunch. Guess who the loudest complainers were about his "transgressions"? The bottom salesmen. The way they saw it, if they got him out of the picture, the more it meant for them. Watch your back...

Of course, he was the top sales guy because he was friendly and knowledgeable, and helped the customer meet their needs, and didn't push hard or steer them towards the items with the greatest commission. The bottom feeders couldn't keep up because they tried to hit a home run with every sale (regardless of what the customer wanted) and were pushy.

One thing he did that was particularly clever was that he would rent a U-haul and deliver big-screen TV's personally at the customers convenience. It cost him $19.95 to rent the U-Haul, and often meant salvaging a very large commission. (That, and the store's delivery people were notorious for damaging items and not setting them up properly.) He got a lot of referrals and repeats from this.

Big shots? You mean like guys who are self-employed or own their own companies and don't have a boss telling them what to look at on the web? Those big shots?
