I have a pair of underwear that is 19 years old.

I share your sentiment. I still have my Casio scientific calculator I bought in college -- 23 years ago. Use it at work almost daily. What a ride that number adding machine has been through...

Thanks for the post -- brings back memories...

Probably time to change them then.

On a medium sized bathroom project, I'll go through a box of 5,000 in less than a day!

Classic. In my desk drawer here I have a box of 5,000 staples from FEDCO ($0.83). They were even made in the USA (are new staples still made here, I dunno?)

I never thought buying this box, that I would still have it 18 years later. I'm not sure what my point was, but I found it interesting today.

Still use HP everyday, also bought ~23 years ago.

Ah, my liver.

I remember back when I was a youth. I've given it quite the work out over the years. Amazing its lasted this long.

I had a little box of wood toothpicks that lasted 20 years. Just used them up a couple of months ago. The price on the box said 35 cents.

man, it's weird that I identify with this. I have the same model HP Business Consultant II calculator that I was using 17 years ago when Microsoft came out with MS DOS 4.0 and Windows 2.0. But rather than let the calculator die, I have been going on Craigslist and buying up identical backup calculators, sort of my way of staying in the '80s I guess...eeek!

I also still use the same style Pentel Superball pens, yellow stickies, same coffeemaker....

staples, or Underwear?

M.D. Holloway 07-22-2008 12:16 AM

I still have a box of 3 ring paper protector rings so the holes don't rip. They were a pain to use when I was in Jr high but for some unknown reson they have withstood the test of time. 27 moves and they have stuck with me. I feel obligated to keep them with me until I die - prehaps they shall be buried with me...

I have a cardboard box from an external SCSI harddrive, which cost north of $1000(over 20 years ago). Drive long gone, The box still useful holding x-mas ornaments. I call it my $1000 box.

Put something valuable in the staple box. Extend it's life. I get it.
