Sony Mavica camera repair

Where is a good place to get this camera fixed or is there an online source of information?

Sony Mavica MVC-CD250

I know it is an old camera, but my wife likes it.

The battery will not work, it works if you plug it in. I replace the battery but it still does not work.

+1 - Even if you did find someone to repair, the cost of repairs will exceed the cost of a replacement (assuming it's something major). Was the camera dropped or dunked?

I have an 8 yr. old Mavica. I'll be if/when it dies, but I'll be looking for something new/improved.

No accident, it just stopped working on the battery. I put a new battery in and it still will not work. It works fine if you plug it in.

I know it is not worth fixing, but my wife wants it. I gave her a Canon slr for Christmas so she has a camera.

His uses CDR/CDRW. Mine uses a PCMCIA card.

That might be a simple repair (soldering battery contacts). I think any camera repair shop should be able to help.

Danny I have it apart right now, there is a watch battery in it. Could that have an effect?

The watch battery is for the camera memory (settings, time/date, etc.). I doubt that would have anything to do with your problem, but you never know. Might be worth $3 to put in a new one.

The battery is glued in. I think I may try a camera repair shop, just to see if and how much to fix it. I could buy a real long extension cord.

She already has a new Canon. Likes this one, he said.

Have you checked with Sony, I checked and they would fix mine but it was going to cost $200 and for a few dollars more you can get something really good with a new warranty.

I was able to get the battery charging light to come on for more than ten minutes. Maybe it was just a bad connection in the battery.

I am going to keep my fingers crossed and let it charge a while longer.

No luck. It stopped charging and will not turn on with the battery.

I guess she will just have to get used to the canon.

Thanks for all the help.
