Price query -- 1967 911S Targa Soft Rear Window

Mods -
If this isn't the best place for this, please feel free to move.

An acquaintance has a '67 911S Targa w/ soft rear window. For our purposes, let's assume it's an immaculate, reasonably low mileage car that needs nothing.

What would the market price be for something like this?

Now, this acquaintance is a bit odd, and the price he has in mind sounds stratospheric to me. Evidently, Mr. Seinfeld sent a rep to look at the car and made an offer which this acquaintance found insulting. I'll tell you the respective #'s after we have a consensus price.

If the price we come to is dramatically less than what he believes the car is worth (as I suspect) I don't think that the "real" price is going to have much of an effect on his estimation. But I just thought I'd check.

Thanks in advance.

A couple pristine examples have traded above $100k this year.

My WAG is $90K. With only 700 some produced and most of those victims of rust from the soft window, it's a pretty rare car.

But you might find someone who has become sick of owning the damned things...like I was.

I knowingly gave the current owner of my old car a half price sale...for personal reasons.

Yeow. I figured $80s, tops!

Well, he's asking $125k (or thereabouts). And it's not immaculate. The body is straight and beautiful, but the motor, while strong, needs a little work.

Evidently he was offered $28k and promptly ushered the offeror into his car and back to the airport.

Hopefully I'll get to drive it a bit before it goes... which might take a while.

depends on if #'s matching, original cleaned-up pristine or "over-restored" pristine.

probably over 6 figures if the former.

is that tommy's car that bill mitchell redid?

A small used car dealer here in Phoenix put one up on Craigslist for $40K a few months ago. Looked like a nice car. Needless to say, it sold immediately.

Yes, even rust buckets with blown engines are worth money...you determine what is "serious" or not...

But Tabby, I thought you were an enthusiast...not a money grubbing stripper, flipper, or pimp. What happened? Greed take over?

To be a car enthusiast, one has to be able to fit in the cockpit ;).
