Hollow point, semi-wad cutter or FMJ?

Good penetration or just a well placed shot?:p

From what i was able to piece together looking at the car after the crime scene was dismantled, the guy was sitting in the car, someone leaned in and shot him at point blank range with a 9mm pistol, as i personally saw the shell casing, and they'd put the yellow "1" sign on the seat where it was recovered. The casing was definitely either a 9mm Para or .380 ACP, or perhaps a 9mm makarov.

So only 1 shot fired. No exit wound and absolutely no blood anywhere in the car.

The bar where the cops indicated the shooting took place is actually only 2 and 1/2 blocks from my house, and he was already in the car. This guy was dead in under a minute from the time he was shot, and unconscious in 1/2 that time apparently.

I never saw the entry wound, so i can only go by the paramedics description of "gut shot." If it was a downward shot the bullet must've clipped a rib or the bottom of one of his lungs to cause the gurgling i heard. So my own novice (i have just basic first aid training from my time in the military) opinion is that the man actually drowned.

This was a very shady looking young man, even if he wasn't into bad stuff, he looked like he was in to bad stuff. I guess given the circumstances of his death you'd have to say he was a 'real gangsta thug' in death, even if not in life.

I took a variety of photos with my new cellphone's camera, but i need to get an adapter to plug it into my computer. When i do i'll post the pix on this thread.

While the area i live in is by NO Means one of Philly's worse (there are areas in Philly that are WAY worse than my neighborhood), it is definitely 'the hood'. I grew up here, and when i was a kid it was all middle class white families. Now it's 80%+ minority, about 50% of which are black.

In the last 18 months or so there has been a fatal stabbing at the house caddy corner from mine, a kid got shot to death around the corner by his step-dad(who was a Philly truant officer), and now this.

It is the wild west here.

If you got close to the car or touched anything, you may want to contact the investigators. You may have left prints or some type of DNA which may cause you to be questioned as a potential witness or suspect. The police prefer to have the crime scene intact and unmolested so the chain of evidence is unbroken.

Sounds like you should find a safer place to live, David

The areas i work in are way worse than where i live.

Besides, what's safe?

this sounds like drugs were involved - would a kid get offed like that otherwise -- in your neighborhood?

m21sniper 07-26-2008 02:38 PM

At a bar, with drunk and highed up hip-hopsters dissing one another? It's highly possible. It could have also been some sort of drug deal gone wrong too. I honestly have no idea.

Move.

DavidB911 07-26-2008 07:14 PM

Thats terrible!!

You want to cover up some of the details of the report in your post so we don't know where you live.

Back when, I lived in West Hollywood. Seemed hip and fun, but turned out to not be a very safe place - this is 20 years ago. One day I was driving home and saw my roommate standing by his car a couple blocks from our place. I stopped and he informed me our block was cordoned off because the police were hunting down a gunman there. I thought, you know, I don't need this, and I can afford better. A couple months later we moved. For you, I'd say "move".

m21, don't you do repos? If so, I can understand your calm demeanor.

m21sniper 07-29-2008 12:15 AM

Yes sir. Been repossessing for over a decade now.

WE had a shooting in town about 3-4 weeks ago in the mall parking lot. A sheriffs deputy was pulling over a pickup truck for driving erratically. The driver was drunk and passenger decided he would jump out distract the deputy with a fist fight and the driver would run off into the woods adjacent to the mall and they could meet up later.

The deputy got the upper hand on the passenger and the drive ran back and they double teamed him. At this point the deputy un-holstered his gun and shot the one in the heart and the other int he arm before loosing consciousness.

Backup was rolling into the parking lot as this happened and the wounded is going to prison.

This is a small town and when interviewed on local TV news the County Sheriff looked straight into the camera and said something along the lines of "If you decide to punch one of my officers be prepared to die."

It turned out that both of these guys had tattoos that indicated they were part of some pretty bad Mexican gang. So we did not loose any upstanding members of the community that had a moment of poor judgment.

Mine too. He deserves a commendation for saving the taxpayers millions of dollars that would otherwise have been spent coddling such trash.
