Soccer fans (yes, all 5 of you)
If you want to watch what will be an amazing grudge/rivalry match tonight, watch the Houston Dynamo play Pachuca of Mexico. Should be on Telefutura in any city that has enough Spanish speakers to qualify. 9pm CT.
These two teams have a growing international rivalry that gets better, heavier, and more exciting every time the meet. Tonights game is the semifinal knockout round in the SuperLiga international invite competition. These two teams met last year in this same semifinal round, and Pachuca won in penalty kicks 4-3. The Dynamo are out for blood, and vengeance will power this game. I'll be there, it'll be the single biggest game in Texas for years, in any sport. For the rest of you that don't like soccer, spare me the rude comments.

Thanks for the heads up.
BTW, Congressman Jack Kemp once called it "A Commie sport." ![]()

Yeah, and I keep reading in the paper how everyone who goes is an illegal...strange, I'm in the stands, and seeing lots of not-illegal people all around me...maybe they're wearing masks.

I'll even rephrase that for you
![]() For those of you who insist in dumping all over any mention of soccer for your own childish, irrational reason, spare me the rude comments. If you simply don't like it, and have a real reason, then I guess you can reply ![]() But remember...this is an American team fighting for bragging rights against some stinking Mexican team ![]()

Soccer can fill that void.
Oh, and thanks for recognizing my expertise...usually people don't call me a "master" of things. ![]() ![]()

Is it rude or juvenile to say you don't have any interest in soccer if you don't make any poor attempts at comedy about the sport?
In a way I wish I DID have an interest since the rest of the world does. I've just never been able to get into it. And honstly? A HUGE majority of Americans feel exactly the same way despite decades of people trying to change it.

Dan , I grew up playing the game like you guys do Basketball.
In HS I had a few moments of 'how'd he do that' . Well you don't kick it with your toes like my American classmates did. Me & basketball...monty python could not devise a better skit...I simple can't walk and bounce that ball, or shoot. Rika |

I don't get bugged if someone doesn't like the sport...I don't like cricket, nor do I like bowling or golf. However, people...for some reason...not only don't like soccer, but then insist on saying that all fans are illegal drunk Mexicans who fight, that all athletes are gay and could never play 2 minutes of American football, that the game is so boring that the fans have nothing to do but riot, and that anything that even remotely is enjoyed in Europe must be nothing more than a front of the Commies to take over the planet. Those critics get loud, and mean, and generally act like brain damaged schoolchildren...all while showing a latent fear that someone will find out that the secretly like to watch the soccer players adjust their jocks.
See how that's slightly different than me saying that I don't enjoy golf?

Tough post to follow. I will be watching tonite and am rooting for the Dynamo to dominate.
I enjoy the US/mex soccer rivalry. The US beating mex at any level in soccer is fun. I love to ride my mex friends when the tri-colores loses.

As for dissing soccer, there has been quite a few commentaries that claim soccer players are the most fit athletes in the world. Second are MotoX racers.

Thanks--just flipped to it. I needed the extra help falling asleep tonight.
I kid, I kid. I'm flipping between that and the Cubs game. My wife thinks I'm nuts. |
