Schwinn Manta- Ray, a classic bicycle?

My son just sent me a pic of a bike he got at a thrift store. I suspect it's worth more than the $40 he spent for it. Anyone have any idea?

Don

Garage
I've seen them at swap meets for $300 to $400 and that may be low! Nice buy.

Looks like it's in pretty good shape. Complete and original. Good find.

yes...do your diligence before diassembling, breaking or painting any part of that thing. working originals are worth bucks.

Classic BMX is worth more. a buddy has a LIME haro master with all the right components...it's worth like 2500 bucks.

Vintage skateboard stuff is expensive as well. I have been looking at rebuilding the perfect dogtown era kit. Not because of the movie, just because I could not afford it as a kid when i wanted to go to skateparks in LA.

Dream:
wood sims board with rear fin, gullwing trucks, and most of all SIMS Pure Juice wheels." I was bidding on a set of NOS wheels without bearings and I dropped off at 300 and it ended up going for nearly $600. Thats for $20 wheelsx4 back in the day.

The desire to return to childhood years must be strong in some folks.

It is nice to reminisce about these old bikes, but truthfully, they weighed a ton, put you in a terrible biking position, and handled aweful. But they sure looked cool.
