I was a Ducati mechanic when the 900SS first came out around '91. It's one of my all time favorites. Congrats!

Had one. Loved everything but the position, which is fine if you're ripping, sucks if there's any slab or normal road between.

Starter sprag failure is really common. Also, if the tank isn't coated, pull it and do it NOW. It has pockets in the rear below the pump where water settles and eventually the bottom corners rust out.

Also, check the primary wiring from the regulator, really prone to failure.

I loved that bike, though. The 2 valve torque and sound are just addicting.

I was just talking to a friend (another Ducatisti) about this era Supersport. Perhaps my favorite view of the bike is directly from behind. It's one of the few modern sportbikes where you can see empty space between the body of the bike and fairing. On every other bike, that space is filled with a wide inline-4, or radiator, or more plastic bodywork. On your bike, you see that little gap of sunlight, as if to remind you that the bodywork is like a little eggshell of plastic, hung to protect the rider from the wind. Something about the proportions of that bike is just...perfect.

yeah, pretty, red and Italian, get that much of the tale, as Mr Harvey might say, page two, the rest of the story, should be happening

I thought you had some old Honda bike, CB 400 or something, or was that someone else?
