Measure 0-60/Quarter-mile with your iPhone

Measure 0-60/Quarter-mile with your iPhone - g-tac turns iPhone into performance meter

One day after spotting the "inexpensive" auto performance measurement tool Dynolicious for the iPhone, we've found another, and it's much cheaper. Liberty For One has released its own automotive measurement tool called g-tac, and its going for just $4.99. For less than half the cost of the Dynolicious tool, you get times and trap speed for the quarter mile, as well as times for 0-60 and 60-0. The g-tac utilizes the iPhone's (and iPod Touch's) accelerometer to determine velocity, so the phone doesn't have to be plugged into the car. The tool also graphs out your last three runs so you can hone your launch technique over time. g-tac's feature list doesn't appear to have the robustness of the Dynolicious app, which also features metrics for Lateral Gs and horsepower, and there isn't much documentation to detail what g-tac can actually do. The early reviews aren't so hot either, as the first seven purchasers have averaged a rating of just 2.5 stars compared to the four star rating for the Dyonlicious app. Since cheaper doesn't typically mean better, we intend to test both apps against an even more expensive hardware unit, and we'll let you know if either iPhone app is worth your hard earned digital dollars.

Nah, 13.86 is a very respectable time for a street car.

Most of the legendary muscle cars of the 70s couldn't break into the 13s. Even the mighty Buick Grand National of 80s fame only ran a factory stock 14.5. The best i've ran in my 928S is a 13.67.

I hate to feed the spammer but what the heck.

Look at the 60' time and the trap speed, its obviously a very powerful car that was babied off the line.

Mid twelves with trap in the 110 range.

Sub 2 second 60 foot times are what you get when you really stand on it off the line, mid 2's is decent mid 3's is babying it then standing on it.

Whatever car that is it is very fast a 121 trap with a 3.17 60 foot is a fast car.

121MPH is telling you there's traction issues. That's an 11 second car whatever it is.

Not clicking link to see.

If the Google webcrawler was faster, would actually WATCH, in near real time, as this kid posts this on hundreds of forums over the next few hours.

I ran a 12.50 with a 2.3 60' @ 115 short shifting (2.5K short of redline where all the power is made) and 100 less RWHP than I have now. It was a tuning run, I felt bad for the C5 in the lane next to me..... not really.

I cannot get off the line due to my AX/road course suspension.

To go 13's with a 3.17 60ft, you better have about 700hp.

My Buick T-Type ran in the low 12s, as did my 68 LeMans. But that still doesn't mean 13's is slow.

is this really a spammer?

he has 88 posts, which would seem to suggest he isn't. But then when you look at the posts, most of them are between 2-4 words. Which would seem to suggest maybe.

Does a spammer really try to build up a post count to get some legitimacy before posting the spam? That seems like a lot of work!

He appears to be a relatively innocent "contribute nothing but cause no harm" poster here. Some other forums he's a bit more aggressive. He's not a TROLL...but I would consider him a spammer, since he's doing nothing but pushing his little website.

They are when your in the low 11's high 10's.

That buick would be hitting the 1000' mark as I am finishing the 1320.

Edit: I just noticed the OP referred to Dynolicious. I haven't heard of his product, but I have read that Dynolicious works as advertised:

Also check out "Dynolicious" for iPhone and iPod Touch:

It is getting very good reviews, from what I have read. Costs $12.99.

It measures g forces too.

This might swing me to get one as well. I see a speeding ticket in my future.

IMO 11s-10s are too much for the street. There is always something faster. I knew a guy with a nitrous injected Camry that runs sub 10s. LOL.

The beauty of Turbo cars is that I do not have to run that kind of power on the street, I push 3 buttons and I take over 100HP out of her, or add it, depending on the mood.
