				Hungarian GP *** Spoiler ***

A great race - surprise! Congrats to Heikki who did the job well. A real disappointment for Massa though, after his nice 1st lap jump. And Hamilton just had bad luck too. All in all a great race.

I'd have to agree. What a first corner for Massa. Should be a good fight from here on out between McLaren and Ferrari. Hopefully Ferrari can get there reliabiltiy back. Wonder what broke on Kimi's car?

Broke? No, I think they just told him to cool it or risk Massa's fate. A 2nd place wasn't worth the risk. The real question is why he slept through the 1st half. I didn't see him make any effort to overtake Alonso.

I spoiled the race for my self this morning. I turned on speed to see if I could catch the end of the race and instead saw the top 3 getting out of their cars.

I am going to try to catch the replay but its not looking good, I should have it on the TIVO when I get home. It was good to see Kimi get some sort of result.

![]() towards the end it did look like kimi was getting excessive movement out of his front right suspension, but he made it to the end none the less. good results for toyota too, good to see their program is finally coming together. i'm looking forward to 3 weeks when they run on the completely new street cirquit in valencia

			Wow. Great race!

Glad to see the results were all racing and no politics. ![]() Massa definitely made a great move at the beginning. Hamilton had a chance to retake the lead until his tire failed. He did do a pretty good job of moving back up (11th - 5th) though. The Ferraris do seem to be having issues lately and Raikonnen seems to be....well....coasting.

Why did Raikonnen back off at the end? He was catching up to Trulli, and then seemed to concede 2nd place. Concern that his motor would go, too? Or was there something wrong with the front suspension?

Could have been a little of both. Either way, the Ferraris are fast...when they work.

Exactly. No whining or complaining & no controversies. And a tight WDC split. And the quality of the driving + the mistakes & misfortunes of a race make even a no-pass zone like the Hungaroring fun.

WDC still wide open, 7 races to go. Raikkonen has to work on qualifying, Hammy work on starts. Ferrari have looked really unprepared for the last few races, until Massa almost pulled off a win, which might have turned the season around. Congratulations to Kovy. Next race is Valencia, which I would think favors McLaren with the high speed turns. But 3 weeks of development time back in the windtunnel...who knows what can happen in 3 weeks?

That totally sucked for Massa, he drove a near perfect race and deserved the win.

Kimi was told to back off and take it easy, nothing broke on his car. I think I hate Alonzo as much as kimi does, If Alonzo could drive as well as he blocks no one would ever catch him. He's a moving speed bump. |

Yeah, and how about Glock. Awesome when a mid-fielder get on the podium. That had to be the highlight of his career so far (especially after that nasty suspension failure last race). You can bet there will be a few parties in the Fatherland during their break!

Alonso is a tough tough man to pass, and the Renault was just fast enough to keep the Ferrari behind. Running in Fred's dirty air as well was not helping things. Ferrari did an excellent job of leaping him in the pits. Kimi put that hammer down hard from there and I think he had a left front suspension wobble, at least that's what it looked like to me.

HEIKKI!!!! I am so damn happy for him.

well, the bottom line is, "that's racing." To win you have to finish. It does no good to run the fastest lap every lap and blow up on the final straight. That's called losing.

![]() Very bad luck for Massa. He was clearly very fast. But he done blowed up. That is the beauty of racing - it is pretty clear-cut. No "style points" or subjective crap (except when the stewards get involved). You either finish first or you don't. |
