Choose my next cheapie auto watch

Just choose. It'll be for daily wear, I'm hard on watches so I don't want something ultra-$$$. It must be an automatic.

If you have an idea for something in a similar price range (sub-$500, auto, men's, no gold tone) then I'm open to suggestions (post pic below).

I voted for number 2. I'm not sure how much these cost, but I have 3 citizens that were $200 each, and they have been great for daily wear.

I would buy mine again over those that you posted, even if the price were the same. What's the draw to the Invicta's? Do they have some sort of lifetime guarantee or something? Just curious.

My new watch:
Titanium construction, so light and strong. Hard crystal face. Versatile - elegant but not flashy.

No draw, just cheap and automatic (mechanical). Plus excessive Google hits on them. Probably the effect of Google-bombing.

I've been doing further investigation and finding out some weird things. Like Trias makes the same exact model as #1, with the same exact Swiss ETA movement, for $100 less. Odd.

And Elysee has a few nice-looking watches, and claim to be "made in Germany" which is better than "made in ?" (Invicta).

Blue, the whole watch industry is full of stuff like that. Try doing some research on who owns the different watch brands if you want an eyeopener and how much of their costs are advertising and marketing
PWD I like Hamilton esp with a brown leather strap for a military look. Watch (sic) out you are getting on slippery downward slope. We'll get you into collector watches and designer labels yet

Nope...I want to meet my maker dressed in faded jeans, tennie runners and a sweatshirt with the sleeves chopped to about 6"...but a watch? Maybe, if my old one ever dies... Leather strap? Those are a problem for me...they get kinda messed up when I forget to take my watch off before removing an oil drain plug with my left hand. I do the final drain plug and filter removal with my fingers because I don't want to get my wrenches dirty...

I never take my watch off unless Im sleeping or in the shower. I clean it with an old toothbrush and warm soapy water whenever it gets grimy.

pwd, a Hamilton on a NATO/G10 strap would look great. I love the military/tool watch look that the Hamilton pulls of with ease. Great watch and a great watch company with a lot of history. The straps are cheap to so you can replace them whenever they start to smell too bad If you pick a Hamilton up, shoot me an address and I'll send you a NATO strap for it

Sherwood? Thinking about it, maybe that IS what attracts me to the Hamilton Khaki line so much. Like an early 911, it's just so darned "no frills" functional looking.

A guy actually opened an Invicta store one town over from me in NJ, went to take a look as I was in the market for a <$1K watch...Try to see one in person, a lot of the models are actually HUGE on the wrist. I was blown away by how different they looked in person vs pictures.

The proprietor told me that Invicta (BTW is Swiss) makes the guts for a lot of the big watch makers and decided to start making their own full package...

I'm a big fan of the simple Titanium look on some of the Citizen watches -- simple flat metal case, black face, no markers. Eco-drive means I never have to change the battery. Titanium means I never have to change the band. I don't know that I'd classify a $300 watch as "cheapie," but it ought to last me just about forever.

I voted #1 just because I am thinking of getting one.. although it is 50mm tall! Don't know if that works for daily wear.
SEIKO makes a bunch of auto's for under $200 that are tough as nails, Citizen eco-drive is another good choice.
check them out at overstock.com
