Olyympic opening ceremonies

Wow... that is gonna be a tough act to follow for us Vancouverites. Simply amazing. The joke around here (perhaps in poor taste) is that they bred and nurtured those performers specifically for that ceremony.

Very, very impressive. I think they have more people on the floor of the stadium performing than you have in the entire province.

You should have watched it, NBC, it was technically amazing. Put aside any geo/political philosophy.

I found the Ralph Lauren designed USA attire for the athletes in the opening ceremonies parade to look like the standard attire of any United Airlines flight attendant.

Bush looked barely awake when the U.S. athletes entered.

Today a friend from Chengdu texted me to ask if I had watched the ceremony live. I was pretty embarassed to tell her it was just too early for me. But I'm watching it now and it's amazing.

One thing's for sure, the world has some damn good looking athletic women. I haven't seen an ugly one yet. Well, there was that giantess from Poland. Whoa!

Poland has some of the hottest women in the world. Their Olympic team was not too representative of how their women look. I've been there and it's the only place that competes with China in the hot women department.

The globe with the suspended 'skaters' or whatever was too cool. I thought the opening drum scene was impressive as well.

They spent more $ on that show than a blockbuster Hollywood movie. I heard 300 mil.

Vladimir Putin looked rather dour, most times I saw him.

Or ...you could watch one of the Hollywood crowds adaptations?

KHARTOUM, Sudan (AP) — U.S. actress-activist Mia Farrow aired an "alternative" Olympic opening ceremony in a Web cast Friday, showing Darfur refugees in the barren deserts of eastern Chad playing sports on sandy fields.

The Web cast coincided with a lavish opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics. The 2 1/2-minute video is part of a campaign by Farrow and other Darfur activists to pressure China into using its leverage in Sudan to bring an end to the five-year conflict.

I watched about two minutes. Then I felt a sudden rush of estrogen and had to turn it off.

All I could think of is that China must have hired queer eye for the straight guy to choreograph it.
