i-Movie help

Can anyone help me change the import length of video coming from a digital video camera to i-Movie? When I import my track videos they are saved in around 9 minute clips. I would like to save the entire 20 minute session as one clip. Is this possible?

Also, could you recommend a website that could explain to me how to incorporate different audio over the video and also how to get the best quality when converting video into a You-Tube friendly format?

The way clip import works is it creates a clip for each time you stop/start recording which is logical.

You can add audio as another track, you can import from itunes or files on your machine.

As far as exporting for youtube, depends on your footage, the contrast levels, amount of motion etc...

There really are no predefined sets. You experiment and save the settings that work best, start with them next time and tweak to suit.

Stomach,
Is there a setting I need to activate to have the clip start/ stop when I start/ stop the camera. The problem I'm having is, during an import session, i-movies stops the first clip and starts a second one at around the 9 minute mark, even though I haven't stopped the camera.

What version of iMovie. Used to be a limit to the file size of the imported clip. Was lifted in v5 IIRC.

Why not just place the clips together on the timeline and export as one seamless video?

You have to do it that way. iirc, there is a limit to the length of a "clip" in iMovie. It also will create a new clip with any start/stop that is detected. Even if you have a continuous shot it will break them up - has to do with the way files are handled and respective sizes I think.

Just suck the footage in and sequence them in order. The downside is that the latest version of iMovie did away with the timeline. I hate it, and no longer use it (for a variety of reasons). Apple screwed the pooch with this last version imho.

Grab a copy of Final Cut Express.

I could have sworn that I had been able to put a whole session in one clip in the past, but will go the route of piecing together in the time line.
