Hey, I'm doing nothing more than restating Rick Lee's, Legion's, et al position they've posted for years now.

glad to see their convictions run so deep.

And yes, all of my above text should have been in green. Sadly, RL's, etc. for years haven't been.

You haven't restated anything close to my position.

Hey John Kerry, ooops, I mean Rick Lee, this has been your's as well as Legion's and a host of other so-called conservatives on this board for years. I've just put it in the context of your hero Tommy Coburn.

You look good out there! Too bad the wind's blowing in the wrong direction. No problem, just flip-flop.

Rika
Rika, I've posted my position on Welfare many times. here it is again.

"That said, I am really against the welfare system, mainly because it propagates cycles (poverty, need, expectation, abuse) rather than breaks them. The end game is that when you don't work for something, when it's just given to you, you'll never appreciate it, you'll never understand achievement, you'll never learn anything and be able to take those skills to modify them to tackle new challenges. Entitlement programs are poorly designed to make you FEEL like you are one thing, but don't give you the tools to actually BE that thing."

I'm not an ideologue on the subject, however, and balance out many factors in backing a candidate. I'll suffer through Obama packing the Welfare roles, right beside Tom, in exchange for other ideals that are more important to me.

I'll be out for some time BTW packing and shipping orders.

I think the desire to go out windsurfing (but he has to work 24/7) is making Shaun crazy!

nope, just wondering where the Rick Lee who once wanted to sterilize welfare moms went to. RL, you still here? or have you gone all gooey liberal soft on us encouraging welfare women who can't even afford the birth of a child, let alone raise it, getting them addicted to the System. you OK paying for their lives?

Forget windsurfing, the 900 does it for me.

You guys bashing Coburn, what's your opinion based on? I thought Coburn was one of the few good guys in Congress and that's saying a lot for a Democrat like me to say that about a Republican.

I still have no problem sterlizing wards of the state. I don't see what that has to do with Coburn though. Just because he doesn't charge for his services does not at all mean all his patients are indigent. And those who are indigent are still not necessarily wards of the state, especially when folks like Coburn donate their services. I've read stories about him delivering some of his staffers' babies, who are obviously well-insured.

Shaun, you seem to have this weird need to argue with the most basic common sensical things. I just don't understand how someone can be against a doctor donating his services to people who need it. Help me out here. The state isn't paying for anything. It costs no one anything and Coburn is a pretty well-respected doctor. Kinda strange that my other favorite member of Congress, Ron Paul, is also an OB/GYN.

Sterilizing women and torturing anyone isn't common sensical Rick, it's brutish, repressive and anathema to the ideals of the Founding Fathers. In the past, when discussing this topic, telling us about your mass sterilization goals, you've posted virtually verbatim what I have here. if this were a Democratic Dr., you'd be all over him like stink on sh|t about how he is encouraging women to have more kids to get more money from the welfare system. I've seen you do it countless times, Legion as well. But because your good friend Tom Coburn sees fit to include a little Liberalism in his daily life, it's all good.

Hypocrisy becomes you.

Hmmm, using Rick Lee's actual past statements to support my position, a straw man? no.

further evidence is the "meds" stuff conservatives dredge up as soon as they've lost a debate or have no argument to put forward. It's like a canary in a mine. When "meds" comes up, you got nuthin.

What's interesting is that Rick Lee wants to sterilize the very same women that Coburn is delivering babies for. Irony? Hypocrisy?

and it begs the question: should women on welfare, who have no way to raise their children, be allowed to have children? Should we Rick Lee them? take their babies away and put them up for adoption? increase welfare funding so they can have as many children as they want?

It's just so pointless in arguing with such an irrational person who clearly has some issues. I just said in a recent post that the women Coburn helps are not necessarily wards of the state (I'd bet very few of them are.) and yet here you claim they are one and the same and that I want them both sterilized. What's the point in carrying on with such a straw man?

Since you're really hung up on this sterlization thing, perhaps you can explain why you think wards of the state should be free to create more wards of the state. As long as you think that's fine, I really can't see why you have a problem with someone (not the state, not you, not your money) giving them free prenatal care.
