TiVo and new modem problem
This is a long shot, but I’m not getting any help elsewhere, and you guys seem to know everything…
After many happy months of wireless TiVo (series 2), I installed a new AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B modem/router which will not work with Linksys TiVo adapter (which worked great with previous modem and router). All kids’s laptops and iPhone hook up to the router fine. AT&T has been absolutely no help at all – a hundred times more frustrating than helpful, such as the technician that did not know what a DVR is and promised to call back the next day. Yea, right. The TiVo recognizes the modem but will not connect. I’ve tried everything from TiVo Help Forums and other internet research, including all suggestions on these threads many times – rebooting, hex screen entry of password, etc. One person said he/she let the TiVo choose the IP address. I never saw this option on my TiVo. Others have resolved the problem in a few different ways, but none of these work for me. No luck. Would another adapter work? I’ve got many, many hours on this and am very frustrated. Any help will be appreciated. Mike |
Do you remember what the IP address was of the old modem? If so, I would try to copy the old IP config to the new modem.
Also, do you have to permit the MAC address of the TIVO unit to connect to the 2Wire? |
So, you have a new wireless router? I think that's what you're saying...
If so, with your other devices, I'm sure you had to reconfigure them to connect to the new wireless router. It's settings would be different unless you configured them to be the same as the old router. If they are different, you have to tell the Tivo that they are different. Have you input the new SSID into the Tivo? IF yes, have you put the new WEP key in the Tivo? I believe the Tivo Series 2 only supports WEP. Mine does not support anything better unless they have made changes I am unaware of. WEP is lame and considered insecure, to work with the Tivo though, that is what you have to use. How is yours setup? Is it WEP? If it isn't it needs to be - it can't be WPA or WPA2... |
Mike, he has a new all-in-one 2wire modem/router/firewall/wireless.
