Tesla Plaid

I just watched the Doug DeMuro review of the Tesla Plaid. My Lord! The fastest production car in the world at 0-60 in 2 seconds! 1/4 mile in the 9’s! 1000 HP. And it is a family car!!! Faster than all other Porsche’s , Lamborghinis, Maserati’s, private supercars and Ferraris! Just amazing. Has 3 electric motors.

Curious as to the impact of doing a "sharp" start on battery life and range

I love that electric cars are making acceleration figures meaningless. I hope this means that sports car manufacturers will start concentrating more on vehicle dynamics and concentrate on a fun driving experience rather than chasing meaningless stats.

Yes, it is interesting, but this is a road travelled before. There have been many cars (witness the de Tomaso Pantera) which was a lovely car to look at, which went like stink but was not a driveable, good dynamics vehicle - hot, uncomfortable, noisy.

I also tend to look at practicality in real world driving, I drove a Fiat X1/9 for a bit, most fun I have had with my clothes on, you could drive like Fangio himself in that thing, rowing through the gearbox like crazy and you were barely exceeding the average speed of traffic, except for corners of course.

My ask about the Tesla is whether you can actually use it in any meaningful sense or whether one high speed blast would deplete or overheat the battery in a bad way or is this something you can go out and play with every time and for a long time.

The battery overheating stuff is way overblown. You aren't going to overheat your battery during normal street driving and you won't notice any degradation of performance going stoplight to stoplight.

It is an issue if you're doing a track day however.
