Computer Game reccomendations?

Anybody know of any pc games that you dont have to be online to play? I love Halo and Age 3 but both of those take a killer vid card and get boring quickly without being online. So are there any games like those that dont require a super computer and are fun offline?

galactic civilizations 2 its single player onlyand is the most detailed tbs game ive ever played. but if you dont have the patience for tbs games i wouldnt recommend it.

I like the Civilization series. If you turn up the difficulty the computer is a beotch...well let me rephrase...the computer cheats.

I am currently addicted to a variant of Warcraft III called Defense of the Ancients. It's all online though. Between that and Madden 09 on my XBOX 360 I spend too much time in front of a screen.

I have been checking on amazon. May go the racing route. Just trying to find one that wont disappoint after playing forza 2 on my 360.

There are some cool online racing leagues out there...most of them use a pretty old version of NASCAR racing...I forget which one.

LOL, I've got doom, doom II, final doom, heretic and hexen on my 'puter. I use a program called snowberry doomsday engine to make these games work in XP.
It's a little buggy but the graphics are much better than the original games were.

you could buy a musical instrument and learn how to play it. That's my recommendation.

Already have a guitar. Its nowhere near as portable as my laptop. I am looking for stuff to do when I am not at home. I have a 360 and all kinds of stuff to do there but I am not at home near enough anymore.

The original Quake or Quake2. Hexen. Descent3d. All good single player, even better online.
