Porsche skyrocketing price example

http://bringatrailer.com/2008/08/21/1973-porsche-911-rsst-tour-de-france-recreation/

from Bringatrailer.com

8/21/2008 Update: This 911 has now made its way across the pond and it is offered here from Maxted-Page Limited in the UK for GBP 55k, or $102,591.

12/15/2007 Update: This sweet Porsche is being offered again through Auto Kennel, this time for $49,990. Has the 911 market advanced this much in seven months? Not sure, but we bet this car will again sell quickly. Find the car here.

5/5/07 Update: As of today at the R Gruppe & 356 North Meets South meeting, this car has a “SOLD” sign on it. No surprise there.

From 5/2/2007:

Wow, what a job these R Gruppe members did on this build. This car is built from a 70k-mile 1973 911T and now resembles the RS/ST factory race cars. It is available here from AutoKennel in Costa Mesa, California for $38,990 which is very reasonable.

When the speedster 50th anniversery came along, speedster and Conv D prices doubled over night. They've gone down a tad, but not much.

Yup, the late 80s Carreras (real Carreras have 4 cams!) are at the bottom of the depreciation curve and are starting to go back up....

I sold my 71 911 S for 18K. It went quickly thru a couple of dealers and ended up in Germany for 44K within 2 months. The year? 2006.

This is the car:

I have no idea about what happened to it.

Wayne - were they "just" speedsters or were they Carrera speedsters?

No way would a CS sell for under 300K these days. And that would be a rat.

And, Wayne is right about the future market. Everything going on today is a mirror of '90-95. But, don't wait too long. History has a way of fooling us.
