Televised Motorsports
20 years ago, I could and did watch any motorsports on TV. F1, Nascar, IMSA, TransAm, World of Outlaws, Motocross, Supercross - didn't matter, I watched it all and had my favorite drivers and tracks for all of it.
These days, I'll start watching a race, and come up with lots of other things I could be doing and thus get totally distracted. I make an exception for F1, because this is the best championship chase since Prost and Senna were at McLaren. I'm not married, don't have kids, my favorite girlfriend lives on the other coast, so I am more than able to do what I please, and I find that that which used to define me now bores me. Same with Pro football, I used to love it, I haven't seen a game in years, except for a few playoff games and the superbowl. (However, I can watch a good college game) Is it the state of professional motorsports and sports in general? The commercials? Does anyone else have a similar take, or have I just moved on? I still love cars and I still love going to the races.
