Beer detour into white wine....Matua Sauv. Blanc

Been doing the beer thing this summer along with lighter Spanish, Argentine, etc. reds. Last night i stopped by a neighbors and it turns out he's a bit of a wine person (not the stuffy sort either!) and he offers me some of this:

AHA! White wine doesn't have to be super sweet! I've enjoyed Reisling but had yet to try a Sauvignon Blanc. Turns out this stuff is a lot more 'interesting' than standard grocery store pinot grigios and such.

This is probably old, old news to long time wine drinkers but I figured i'd share

My wife and I have been enjoying the Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs for about 3 years now... basically the only whites that I like outside of Rieslings. I would recommend Oyster Bay and Hua as well.

Dude, quit buying wine in grocery stores. Try a Burgundy or Bordeaux from a liquor store or wine emporium. Lot's of good stuff available.

i don't but friends/family certainly do.

last bordeaux i tried was like going from strict vegetarian to mcdonald's to mid-rare wild duck in one day. just a bit too much too fast to really appreciate it. i'll get back to french stuff this winter though.

The next time you find a Bordeaux that is too much for you to appreciate, quickly put the cork back in the bottle and PM me for shipping instructions.

I'll report back.
