With 32K miles on my civic ex coupe I can say that it was a great purchase. I use the car for work and sometimes I will use it on the weekends. I also have a new Mazda CX-7. I looked at the mazda 3 and test drove the car. I purchased it for my fiance. Between the 2 I personally like the honda. A bit more modern with nice little toys. The mazda doors close like a sheet of aluminium. Crappy (er) finish than the honda.
Fiance totaled the mazda 3 so we got a CX-7 aned its a great lil car. Quick and takes turns pretty well. Drives more like a car but seeing that thats another story, I will say that I like my honda. |

That said, my vote would be for the RSX with one caveat: If your daughter parks the car in an area where car theft / vandalism is high, I would be a little concerned. With the Integra, the 16 valve VTECH heads were often stolen - it was a 'cheap' power upgrade on the Civics. While many consider the RSX / Integra to be a 'rebadged' Civic, the car is much more than that. My 1990 Integra GS was one of my favorite cars I've owned, and it is/was one of the best handling FWD cars ever made, IMHO. My bro-in-law has an older Mazda Protege 3 (with the 1.8 liter motor, IIRC). He loves it! -Z-man. |
Moses, same car we bought my wife last August except her's is gray, well technically Galaxy Gray Mica. She'll love it.
Who complained about changing the oil? I agree not as easy as the 911, but I like the pan, you take it off and there is the filter. I don't have to do any contorsionist crap trying to reach the filter that is in some akward position like in my truck. I change the oil in Mazda 3 and it takes no time. You can get Mazda filters at the dealer in a 3 pack for $15. You can get the tool from them or supposedly from Snap on. |
