My favorite quote:
"If you're my enemy, and you're by the side of the road with a flat tire, and it's 20 below zero, I'm going to stop and throw a gallon of water on you and keep going." Bo Jackson

I saw a replay of that game a few weeks ago on the NFL channel. Man could he run. Not only was he the fastest guy on the field by a long shot, he could run over linebackers. Lower his head and put them flat on their backs and never lose stride. IMO he was the best athlete I ever watched. It was a true shame that his career was cut so short.

I actually attended the game with my father that night. I had gotten tickets from a Seahawks fan coworker, who told me, "I wouldn't wear any of your Raider stuff in these seats." So I did, and my old man and I nearly got the crap kicked out of us for all my trash talking. The guy that gave me the tickets said he caught crap for the next two seasons for giving a Raider fan those seats.

The hardest part of Bo's demise was the simple way it happened. It looked so benign when he got tackled, and he sort of limped off. I thought maybe a pulled muscle. It was a playoff game against the Bengals if I remember, at the Coliseum in LA. They were looking at a serious shot at a Superbowl ring, and maybe a couple more if he stays healthy.

The fastest wide receivers aren't necessarily the best wide receivers....some of the slow runners had/have a remarkable ability to get free. I used to love watching Fred Bilitnikoff (sp?) run patterns...

Absolutely. It's about separation, and concentration. Fred was great at both. One of the most frustrating things to see today in the NFL is how many "great" receivers don't use proper fundamentals when they catch a ball. They make lots of fancy catches, but the routine ones are dropped way too often.

Except this guy. If he stays healthy, he will be one of the great ones.

Kinda slow? You ever see Deion of Stallworth run?

KaptKaos 08-24-2008 07:50 AM

All of those times are insanely fast. Until you experience it in person, on the field, you can not believe how fast those 4.2 times are. All NFL players are fast, so seeing those guys outrun players on the filed gives no context to how fast they are compared to normal people. It's insane.

Not "kinda slow?"
