Plans to raise taxes on those making $42K or more

From a Glen Hubbard article in the WSJ: "In a June 26 interview on the Fox Business channel, Mr. Obama said he wanted to roll back the Bush tax cuts for those in the top 5% of incomes -- that is, about $145,000 per year. He also voted for the Democrats' fiscal year 2009 Budget Resolution, which would raise taxes on individuals earning $42,000 or more."

I would assume that this would impact most of those who view this BBS. Does the Democrat plan to increase taxes significantly to screw the "rich" that make more than $42K (per the budget resolution) or $145K (per the Obama campaign) make you more likely to vote Democrat or Republican?

It seems to me that these increases along with the planned increases on business would be very damaging to the economy. What do you think?

Top 5% make $145K/year? Is that an individual filer or a joint return? Must be individual filer. The LA times last week showed the top 20% as earning $117,xxx. If $145K, cool, I just moved up another notch above the rest of you dirty, unwashed masses.

Man, the wife and I just clear $100k gross (much, much less net ) I feel like we just barely get by as is.

We'd have to cut back on a lot of discretionary spending if taxes went up. That will do wonders for the economy.

Obama will punish those who are not poor, he will punish businesses, he will raise taxes, he will kill jobs and he will make unemployment will go through the roof, but that's OK.

The people he will help won't go to work so they couldn't care less care if there are any jobs pr not.

My wife and I make more than that in a low-cost state and also feel like we're just getting by. My wife was at first taken in by Obama's lofty rhetoric, but is now convinced we'd pay a lot more in taxes if he gets in, so now she hates him. Too bad she can't vote.

She doesn't have to have citizenship to vote as long as she votes for a democrat. just ask Loretta Sanchez.

If you're asking if I want to pay less in taxes now so our children can pick up the tab in the future which is what the Republicans have done for the last 28 years? I'll vote Democrat and live within my means and not run up my credit cards like the Republicans have been doing with our federal govt.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought she may have been a convicted felon, or under eighteen.

I don't know how they do it in AZ. The last few times I voted in VA I was asked for ID and they checked it closely against their records. But they sure seem to encourage voter fraud in a lot of places.

Since the Democratic Congress passed the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993, numerous loopholes have been created that have permitted thousands of dead voters and former residents who have long ago moved to remain on the voter rolls for nearly a decade. Also, there is only one state -- Arizona -- that finally adopted in 2004 a law requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote.
I was referring to Santa Ana Ca. where the DNC funded organizations that rounded up illegals and registered them, offering reward money to others for registering illegal relatives and then ensuring the voted for sanchez (after she changed her last name to sanchez from Loretta Brixey to attract the hispanic vote).

The democrats intentionally and illegally stole that election and then when it was brought in front of congress to investigate they used bureaucratic red tape to tie it up so long it could not be discussed, ever.

Quote:
In another case concerning a U.S. House seat in which voter fraud may have influenced the result, California Republican Congressman Bob Dornan was defeated by Democrat Loretta Sanchez in an upset, by the narrow margin of 984 votes in 1996. Dornan charged that Sanchez’s margin came from non-citizens, and an investigation by the House of Representatives found that 547 non-citizens had voted in the election, but not enough to void the election. Some believe that far more non-citizens who were not detected actually voted. John Fund, in his book Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy, says that an INS investigation in 1996 into alleged Motor Voter fraud in California’s 46th District revealed that “4,023 illegal voters possibly cast ballots in the disputed election between Republican Robert Dornan and Democrat Loretta Sanchez.”
Here's another:
Quote:
Dornan continues to assert that illegal voter registration of non-citizens was decisive in Sanchez's victory. In consultation with the INS, the House committee identified as many as 4,700 questionable registration affidavits; however, the probe was dropped before these affidavits were investigated. As Article I Section V of the Constitution of the United States provides that "Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members" the investigation was without binding authority.[5]

Democrats have been in power longer, but I'm talking about the last 8 years as everything's gone to hell in a hand basket. Here's are the congressional majority parties for the last several years:

Are you claiming Dems would have spent less, had they been the maj. party when the GOP was in charge?

When a Republican President and/or Congress is in office, the national debt increases more than a Democrat. I'm just looking at the data. If I'm missing something, please let me know, but be able to support your position:

I agree that spending since Bush came into power has been through the roof. I'd also point out that it had plenty of democrats voting to spend that money. Especially for the Iraq thing. Including Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, Kennedy and a bunch of others. They just change their story later when questioned about it and say had they known then what they know now..... They don't want to be held accountable for their votes when the results of their votes (Iraq) become unpopular.

Democrats tax you in real time and spend your money.

Republicans borrow from the Chinese and spend your money so your kids can pay them back, with interest, but you can afford your 42 inch plasma TV NOW. And that whole borrowing from a Communist government that ultimately weakens your hand in foreign policy, don't worry about that.
