12-cylinder, 70-MPG Duesenberg Torpedo Coupe
From Hemmings...
Duesey of a story 12-cylinder Duesenberg Torpedo Coupe concept drawings ![]() Apparently, now that all the large summer classic car get-togethers have come and gone, we realized that there was no new Duesenberg II Torpedo coupe that was speculated to be completed this year. We see on their website that the release date has been pushed back to mid-2008. Built on a modern Mercedes CL500 chassis, the Torpedo is slated to be built with a new-technology engine called CEM or Cylindrical Engine Model which will be a 12-cylinder rotating engine that will deliver up to 70 mpg and around 300 hp. For more information on the CEM check out the EP Industries website: http://www.epindustries.com/pdx_engine.html A Murphy Roadster is also planned by the company. ![]() Duesenberg II Murphy Roadster The Roadster will be a V-10-engined touring model mounted on a modern Ford chassis. The Murphy moniker comes from the Walter Murphy Company in Pasadena who made many of the original Duesenberg bodies. When released, the Roadster will initially be available for purchase only from Old Yesterday Classic Autos in San Diego. Apparently they will be the exclusive dealer for D II when the model is released. The Roadster should also be out sometime in 2008. More information is available on the Duesenberg II website: http://www.duesenbergcustomcoach.com/home.html
