dunno if you are talking about college or pros, but I've watched two very good college games this past week, UCLA last weekend and BYU/WASH today. Fun game, #15 ranked BYU barely escaped with their butts against unranked Washington because the washinton kicker missed an extra point with 2 seconds left to go.

it's not football if they use their hands , now is it...
damn you americans , can't get anything right

foot = the thing at the end of your legg
ball = the round thing, black/white , you kick it with your foot, to the goal...

get it ?

if you use yer hands, on an not so round ball, it's called RUGBY
no padding, that's for ninnies

Don't get it twisted. Ray Lewis with no pads would have rugby players trying to jump into the stands to get away, like at a bullfight.

Florida vs The U tonight. We can watch the team picked to win the SEC East OVER the team picked to win the championship.

Will OSU's poor performance today affect their standings?

Who knows, but I bet WVU drops in the polls. Same goes for the over rated USC squad. It was nice to see Vandy on top of the SEC for the second time this season.

Waiting for it.......

A getto thug but a tough one I suppose, I'll take Jack Lambert over any of the current toughies out there today.

And Penn St. won big!!!!!

You don't understand real football.

In soccer they don't wear pads cause they are only 5'4" 125lbs!

oh, you don't understand feet or pounds either....

I agree that the name of the game is wrong.

It should be called 'superball' and it is the best viewing sport out there. The players are the best all-around athletes in the world. There are the ~6'-10", ~350 lbs (208 cm, 160 kgs) linemen who are unbelievably quick and vicious and hit each other with brutal violence. Then there are the skill players-- tall, agile quarterbacks throwing rocketing passes to graceful, tall, lightening quick receivers while guarded by equally menacing defensive counterparts and running backs making deft zigzag cuts to avoid decapitating hits. The strategy behind the game and choreography of the moving chess pieces is unmatched in any other sport. Just watch NFL highlights in 3/4 speed. I can't think of any sport that films as well.

That said, I prefer basketball, as I play the game weekly and appreciate the athleticism. Soccer is athletic and fun to play but is boring to watch. Rugby appears to be a mad scramble and I don't question their toughness but they don't have to be the same size or have the same agility as professional NFL superball players. Ray Lewis is the meanest man alive though....

Oakland Faders. Commitment to The Basement

Personally, I think it's great L.A. has no pro football team; I hope it stays that way. It's a great feeling that a big city like this can, come September, turn into a college football town. It adds a new edge to the place.

Soccer (football) is much more exciting than American football. Continual play, no time outs save for injury or penalty kicks, etc.

With American football, it's hike, scramble, hand off or throw, catch tackle, then reset for 20-30 seconds and repeat.

At least in the CFL, you guys have a moving offensive line. It mildly mitigates the hurry-up-and wait tedium.

They say soccer is the sport of the future. They've been saying that for decades now.

I understand why soccer is so popular, so PC, you play the whole game to a tie and are happy about it. No winners, so PC.

Have you viewed a rugby game? Some of those guys are as big as football players with pads, and they have the endurance to play for 2 45 min halves. He may be stronger than them, but I'm sure the rugby players would have him screaming mercy after 20 min of beating.

Besides college superball is better.

Soccer reminds me of a herd of gnus on the African plain. The only reason soccer is popular is because all you need is an empty milk jug to play. All the 3rd world countries have no choice. They cant afford pads & helmets.
