Anyone own an older John Deere Lawn Tractor?
I just got a 1979 John Deere 212 since our Simplicity stopped running. I feel foolish for asking this, but I hope someone has a similar tractor and can help me. I cannot get the tractor to move. It drove down from the trailer when it was delivered, so I know it moves but....I can't seem to get it to do it. It starts up fine, I put it into gear, release the clutch and nothing. Even when I move the speed selector (level on right side), it does not move. It feels like the brake is engaged, but I cannot seem to release that either.
If you have a similar tractor and can help, please do! |
I had a 111 which had a lever (black ball) on the lower part of the dash. This was the lock for the clutch and brake. You need to push on both the brake and the clutch and at the same time pull up on the lever and slide it up and over.

Yes I have a 80's 330 diesel.

Dave,
I was thinking about your tractor when I bought this: http://www.a-chainsaw.com/winpower-11000-watt-540-rpm-tractor-driven-portable-generator-1411ptcd-p-1076.html If you've got 18 to 20 at the rear PTO, you're good to go:) |
Hey Paul,
Now that is sweet! Got 19 hp so it would work fine. How do you like it? Are you running it off your Komatsu?Looks like it hooks up to your 3 PT. Right now I'm looking for a log splitter that I can run off my front hydros. |
How about your drive belt? Is it there?
Here's all you need to know about older JD's - a great source of Info: http://www.weekendfreedommachines.com/ |

There are a bunch of rear pto log splitters on line. Check Northwestern as a start, then call the OEM. Hope you're doing well...we're dove hunting early tomorrow. |
