As long as Louisiana does not become Ike's "Tina", I'm OK with that.

That is all I need to know thanks!

Do not worry, I never call people names nor do I get uncivil with them unless they take that route with me, you remind me of Mul and therefore you are the sole person on MY ignore list now, so you will not have to worry about my "meathead" comments to you anymore.

Jim, hang in there with the storms.
What's the latest?

RWebb's posts were uncalled for and rude. I don't blame you.

Way to keep your cool.

I have a few jokers on my ignore list as well...

Jim, IMO they don't know what the heck they are talking about from one day to the next and as long as the grant money keeps rolling in it doesn't matter to them either way. They just say whatever they want as long as it keeps their names in print and the bills paid.

Randy tends to take it personally when this particular branch on the "environmental BS tree" gets called out.

rammstein 09-07-2008 08:37 PM

Amazingly, Ike is way, way south of us now. Looks like it will miss New Orleans too... probably gonna hit Texas now?

fritzgator 09-07-2008 08:52 PM

Estimates are, that my house will be getting power back, from Gustav, about the time IKE is scheduled to roll in. Could be a rough season! All i know is without our coastal wetlands, to absorb storm's energy, even the midgrade storms are doing unprecedented damage. Good thing it's not up to me,because i'd shut off the oil& nat. gas spigot, until we got some major wetland restoration projects going. Forgive my ranting, it's been a stressful & uncomfortable week. i wouldn't wish it on anyone, and i can't wait for November to get here.

I DO tend to react when ignoramouses make statements on highly technical matters they are untrained to comment on at all.

YUP - I plead Guilty to that one all right.

onewhippedpuppy 09-09-2008 06:14 AM

Regardless of how intelligent you are, if you are not able to express that knowledge clearly, in words that the average individual can understand, you are doomed to be ignored. If you also choose to hold your nose in the air while doing it, you will also be disdained.

I can throw out all sorts of technical jargon in regards to the aviation industry that you won't understand. Does that make you stupid? Or does that make me an self-important ass?

JeremyD 09-09-2008 06:28 AM

Randy need to switch to decaf.

And as degreed and as intelligent as the wonderful scientists are at the National Hurricane Center are - they missed the last two storms by a mile (more like several hundred)

I wish they would quit with the five day forecasts and stay with the 3 day.

flatbutt 09-09-2008 06:41 AM

I see people confusing a scientist's ability to forecast a storm's track with the ability to perform other meteorological prognostications.

Say what you will to the contrary, weather forecasting has saved alot of lives.

Global warming versus cooling? I say look out of your window, then dress accordingly.

I...er...um...might have underestimated my bucketing ability with this storm...

I have a feeling it's going to take my bucket and smack me over the head with it.

Fortunately, it's going to wipe us out very late Friday night, so we can still go out and get drunk at the hurricane parties, then rush home to pass out before the tornadoes come :D

Rikao4 09-10-2008 02:47 PM

good plan Mike,
do be smart and careful..
we agree on soccer..some stuff not..
but I really don't wish you or any of OTHERS bad fortune..

Crud, shifting towards H-town. Will this one pull a Rita and go wide right, or is this the one that catches Houston in the upper rt quad of the storm. It could be a long nite on Fri.

rouxroux 09-10-2008 03:19 PM

Chuck Norris (Walker, Texas Ranger) will just stand on the shore and blow clockwise towards the east, stopping the storm saving the state!

rammstein 09-10-2008 05:20 PM

The storm actually is Chuck Norris. He's out in the gulf doing roundhouse kicks .

JeremyD 09-10-2008 06:20 PM

From my other thread - I'm humbled by the sheer force of Mother Nature

The neighborhood I have to go through to get to my house is flooded. Things to ponder.

(this one obviously of the yacht basin...)

Looks like you may catch the northeast quad all right. This morning it was pointing straight this way (Corpus Christi). Don't want to wish a hurricane on anyone but sure hope it keeps moving north.

Spent the day boarding up, hopefullyl all for naught.

Pazuzu 09-10-2008 08:50 PM

Most current (for what that's worth) track has it going right over our home. I'll take pics of the eyewall if it stays this route :D
