Time To Take Stock Of What Your Doing
Because you can say it or do it, it doesn't mean that you should. Freedom implies a level of responsibility for ones actions. A responsibility to be a good neighbor, not only to know your own limitations but to know your neighbors sensibilities. Americans are fast losing that sensibility. Democracy to function requires that both sides of a political argument trusts the other, that their hearts are for the best interest of the nation and not just partisan interests. Since 2000 the stitching of this Republic is being torn at by both sides and, is becoming more viperous with each passing election cycle. At some point the parties had better realize that they are creating a whirlwind. For, "If we do not do right God will let us go our own way to our ruin."
|
Freedom does not imply any level of responsibility.
We don't live in a Democracy. We live in a Constitutional Republic. The Republic has been torn on and off since it was a collection of Colonies. The current strife came about with the Contract for (or on) America in the 1990's. God??? |

This thread has inspired me to take stock of my own life and how I am spending it. After considerable thought, I am going rededicate my life to the problem highlighted by this thread: apostrophe abuse and neglect. No more will apostrophes be randomly tacked onto its and theirs without the possessive plural. No more will theyre, there and their offend the eye sans apostrophe without protest. Your and you're will no longer be confused with the Apostrophe Defender around. Infinitives may still be split as Apostrophe defender leaves prepositions hanging where no man has gone before, but the humble apostrophe will be protected!

And you doubted whether or not MRM did community service!

In a constitutional republic you have to weigh your choiches very carefully.
|
Choiches, choiches. Hmmm...
|
tabs,
Is this a quote or your own thoughts? Either way - true words. |

Knock yourself out, tabbie.

It's not that I want to Sunny Jim!

The apostrophes are looking good here, men. Carry on and keep up the good work.
Tabs, don't mind Jim. He's just a little touchy ever since MOTHER pulled the plug on the oil market and he had to deal with Oil stomping around the place for a few days. You'd think she would be old enough to watch what she says to Ben so she doesn't inadvetently touch off another world wide financial panic. Tell her thanks for restarting the financial stocks again. The help was greatly appreciated! |

You seem a reasonable sort, I followed your travels in your 911...but I never thought Shark Jumping was your forte: The Contract With America has caused the current strife? That is perhaps the most Evil Knievel/Fonze-like leap of political faith I have ever read. We are a Constitutional Republic, as you wrote, which requires an extraordinary amount of individual responsibility to stay afloat... |
I took some vacation to keep clear of MOTHER and Oil. Very smart move. My sources tell me that things have calmed down considerably.

Tabs, will you please go back to posting about Vegas Life, BBQ, Antique Firearms, the Early S Registry, Buffets, Home Furnishings and in general continuing to be a beacon of Oenophilia, Aesthetics and Epicurianism. This political talk just doesn't SUIT a man of your experience and depth, like 20" spinners on a Bugatti Royale.
Let us (all) strive to remain comfortably above the pedestrian fray which will be over soon. |
