mmm tonight's grillin' goodies...

Bought a pound of jumbo shrimp, bacon and basil leaves.

Shelled and de-veined the shrimp then wrapped a basil leaf up in there with the bacon. Grilled on high heat for a few minutes a side.

Damn that was good!

Hey Len, how do you hold the leaves on? Put a toothpick through it?

That sounds damned tasty.

Should take the bacon and drop it in boiling water to get some of the fat out. That way it won't burn as quick anyway on the grill. Plus you get rid of the soot that you get whne the fat burns. Just a better product that is all.

No toothpick, just tuck the end under a wrap.

I didn't have any burning issues but I I can see where that might happen.

Another bonus was there were a couple extra bacon strips so i tossed those on the grill for a warmup snack

Tonight I'm grilling for my parents at their place. I'm doing a chicken recipe my buddy developed that is fantastic. It uses cheap thighs and drums with a custom hot sauce/parmigiana cheese concoction slathered on in the final stages of grilling. mmmmm

I've grilled bacon outside before and it isn't easy. It's amazing how fast it can go up in flames. I'll have to give the shrimp on the barbie a try with your recipe. It's real easy to overcook it. (just ask me).
